Generally when developers have DLC lined up and set in stone before the game even launches that’s a sign that a company is attempting to maximize profits by stripping game components which could have been implemented into the game already. Thankfully developer Quantic Dream seems like they won’t be stripping anything away from the main experience “…we are talking with Sony at the moment about having maybe extra downloadable content, maybe with prequels or sequels about the characters. I’m sure people will get attached to some of them and will want to know them even better.” said David Cage founder of Quantic Dream.
He also estimated the length of the game being at about eight to ten hours for a single play through. While that number may seem a bit small the game has many branching paths to encourage multiple play throughs. He also said there would be some sort of online component, but would obviously not be multiplayer since Heavy Rain is a strictly single player experience. Heavy rain is set to release in early 2010.
