Aonuma talks more about Zelda Wii's structure and controls, confirms fan speculation…kind of

From the sounds of it, Aonuma and his team may have achieved 1:1 sword controls  for Zelda Wii using Wii Motion +. Aonuma says “We’re taking advantage of MotionPlus. It’s become very natural – the movement of your arms is precisely reflected in the gameplay. Thanks to the technological advancements, we hope the gameplay can be more accessible to people.

Aside from controls, Aonuma went in more detail of exactly how the Zelda Structure would change. “So far, the basic flow of the Zelda games is you’re exploring a field, you go to a dungeon, you conquer it and return to the field. We’re looking at altering that traditional flow. That’s all I can share, and I can’t say more until E3 next year.

And last but not least, Aonuma confirmed that some of the Zelda Wii Speculation is indeed true saying”yes I have read some of the speculation, and some of it is right! That is all I can say at the moment.” Unfortunately he wasn’t nice enough to tell exactly which theories he was confirming.

Most likely they will just keep dropping hints to tease us until E3 2010. What a long wait…at least we are getting something though.

  1. Even if they’re not telling which theories are which, it’s still nice to hear that they’re in the process of developing a NEW way to play Zelda. The dungeons and heart/item collecting really defined the Zelda franchise, but I’m excited to see what is fresh instead of what is familiar.
