Established Ubisoft IP returning along with a new IP next fiscal year; expect less casual DS games

Ubisoft has quite a bit lined up for the 2011 fiscal year which runs from April 2010 to March 2011. Franchises like Prince of Persia, Ghost Recon, and Assassin’s Creed are sure to be hits.

One other franchise is making a return, but they didn’t reveal any details so all we can do is speculate on what franchise it may be. The developer is also releasing a unannounced sequel some time during the fiscal year of 2011 as well along with their other new I.P.  R.U.S.E.

Ubisoft said they will be reducing their focus on the casual DS market saying that “the [Casual] Group’s Nintendo DS segment has been significantly reduced, resulting in a sharp decrease in external investments.”

Ubisoft has probably released enough casual DS games like Imagine Babyz and Petz Horses to entertain casual gamers for a life time. I’m not sure if anyone will miss them being released at ridiculous rates.
