Namco Bandai announced that they have a new action title in the pipe-line for 2011 called Knights Contract. The Xb0x 360 and PlayStation 3 title has quite a bit of blood and violence. Oddly enough, the blood is actually white. Almost like Fist of the North Star’s blood in the anime.
Anyways, onto game details.Knights Contract takes place in 1700’s Germany — focusing on two historical elements: Witch Hunts and the Legend of Faust.
Players play as Heinrich, a large man with weapons even larger then he is. He isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty as he can grab enemies and throw them as well. Over time, Heinrich gains combo moves that make use of both his hands and his oversized weapons.
Heinrich has no fear, why? Because he is immortal. It is impossible for him to die in any way. But his mage companion, Gretchen, can die. And if she dies, it is game over.
Grentchen won’t go down easy though. She has a variety of spells to take down enemies and stall them. She can even increase Heichen’s attack power or completely change the weapon he is wielding. While she is AI controlled, players can give simple commands to her. I would also be surprised if there wasn’t any sort of co-op mode available though.
Knights Contract is set for a 2011 release in Japan on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We will have to wait to see if Namco Bandai decides to localize the title. Maybe they will change the color of the blood for the US and NA release.
Be sure to check out the trailer after the jump.
