Phantasy Star Portable 2 Heading to North America and Europe

After a long wait, Phantasy Star Portable 2 is headed West. The title will be available exclusively for the PlayStation Portable this Fall in both North America and Europe.

Unlike the first Phantasy Star Portable, Phantasy Star Portable 2 includes up to four player online multiplayer via ad-hoc and infrastructure modes. Also, fans of the original Phantasy Star Online will be happy to hear that Battle mode and Challenge mode has finally made their way back to the series.

Of course, if you don’t want to play online you don’t have to. Offline you can find a whole new single player quest following events three years after Phantasy Star Universe.

If I had a PlayStaiton Portable, I’d be pumped. I haven’t gotten my hands on the title myself, but I know many people who said the Japanese version was basically the best elements of Phantasy Star Universe combined with the best elements of Phantasy Star Zero.  That doesn’t sound like a bad combination.

Hopefully SEGA will actually market this one, unlike Phanstasy Star Zero which had almost no backing by the company.

You can check out some screen shots of Phantasy Star Portable 2 and the box art after the jump.
