Kingdom Hearts: Coded Heading to North America?

It seems like Kingdom Hearts: Codded, an episodic Japanese only cellphone Kingdom Hearts title, may be heading to North America under the name Kingdom Hearts: Recoded.

Recently, the voice actor of Jiminy Cricket for the Kingdom Hearts titles listed a job he took on May 19th to record for a title called Kingdom Hearts: Recoded. Jiminy Cricket supposedly has a large role in Codded, so it would make sense that he would have been working on the project.

What makes this seem even more likely is what Tetsuya Nomura recently said in a interview with Game Informer.

When asked about new information on Kingdom Hearts titles to be revealed at E3 he replied, “Hints would give away too much, and for Kingdom Hearts we’re contractually obligated to keep any information that has not been officially released under wraps. However, I can say one of the two projects mentioned above came into existence because we wanted to do something for the North American fans, so we’ll be announcing it at E3.

The fact that he emphasizes that its for North American fans probably pushes that it is a remake or port of Codded that will be revealed.

As the quote said, we will be hearing more about what ever it is, codded or not, at E3. Now the question is, what platform would recodded be going to? DSiWare? PlayStation Minis? iPhone? I personally think it would be cool on all of them, but that might be asking too much.

Nevermind, it should be a Vectrex exclusive.

  1. Is it named Kingdom Hearts: Codded and Kingdom Hearts: Recodded, or Kingdom Hearts: Coded and Kingdom Hearts: Recoded? The name seems to switch multiple times in the article.

    1. Sorry. The Japanese title for the original was Codded. The title the voice actor mentioned was Recodded which from what we can guess will be a NA release of the title.

  2. I really like that Tetsuya Nomura has given a nod to us North American fans, but I still wish SE’d put out KH2 Final Mix… it’s so the definitive version. Oh well…
