Marvelous Entertainment Changing Business Strategy to Avoid Cing-like Death; Stops All New I.P. Development

Marvelous Entertainment, who has developed titles like Little King’s Story and published No More Heroes in Japan, hasn’t been having much luck. Despite developing some pretty solid titles on Wii, PSP, and DS, sales of most of their titles were lackluster. As a result, the company is making some major changes.

First up, they are cutting all development of new I.P.s, so we won’t be seeing anymore new franchises from them for now. Second of all, they are shifting their focus on developments. They will be having a major focus on browser based titles. As for traditional games, they will be changing their focus to the PlayStation Portable where they have been seeing the most success.

Marvelous compares their situation to Cing, who worked on Little King’s Story with them. The company fears if they don’t make some major changes soon, they will be going bankrupt as well.

Marvelous Entertainment said they wish to work on the Nintendo 3DS when given the opportunity, but they aren’t sure what exactly they will be developing for it yet.

  1. It truly is a shame to see a company, like Marvelous, have to make some desperate choices. Marvelous has been responsible for developing/putting out some of the odder titles that I have recently played, and I give the company a lot of respect for being so balls-y for as long as they financially could.
