Sony is pushing out new PS3 Slim SKUs in Japan starting later this month. New 160 GB and 320 GB PS3s are on the way to the market, and the old 120GB model is being phased out. These new models also come in white and black – a first for the PlayStation 3 slim unless you count the Final Fantasy XIII special edition PS3 in Japan.
At the moment, these new models are only announced for Japan. Eurogamer contacted Sony about a European release and they simply replied “We will consider every possibility based on the market demands, but have nothing to announce at this point in time.” Lovely.
If anything, the PS3 already has a replaceable harddrive. So unless you want white, there isn’t too much here for current PS3 users to be jealous of. But if you are looking into buying a PS3, you might want to hold out a little bit for a possible NA or EU release.
