Four New Starcraft 2 Mods Announced

Earlier today at Blizzcon, Blizzard announced four new mods for StarCraft 2: StarJeweled, Left 2 Die, Aiur Chef, and Blizzard DOTA.

Blizzard DOTA is spiritual successor to Warcraft III mod, Defense of the Ancients. According to Sigatay, this version will be comprised h heroes from various Blzzard games, like Super Smash Bros. The demo showed many characters from both StarCraft and WoW (including Blizzard’s “mascot”, a Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain.

StarJeweled is a type of “tower defense” game, having players match jewels on the right side of the screen (an reference to Bejeweled), which will send out a bunch of units attack enemies at the other side of the screen.

Aiur Chef stars what else? A Protoss chef. In the game, you will need to explore to find ingredients for various recipes themed around specific ingredients.

Left 2 Die is based on Valve’s popular Left 4 Dead series and converts the mission “The Outbreak” to have two players fend off hordes of zombies.

All of the downloads are said to be free and you should be able to get your hands on them within the next few months.

  1. You know what this post makes me think of that sounds awesome? Super Smash Blizzard Brawl. Take all the main characters and face them off in a good ol’ tourney fighter. Recycling the VA’s would make it fun too. “Paladin Arthas vs James Raynor” Now that’s talking to yourself.
