Taliban Players Removed From Medal Of Honor

So yes, Electronic Arts has finally buckled under the pressure of the controversy they caused and have removed the Taliban as playable characters in their upcoming military shooter Medal of Honor. The Taliban characters are now called the ‘Opposing Force’.

The military put Medal of Honor under intense pressure after it became known that players could take on the role on the Taliban fighters in multiplayer portions of the game.

Greg Goodrich (the executive producer of Medal of Honor) made a statement about the change this morning and said the decision to drop the Taliban reference was purely driven by the feedback from friends and family of the fallen soldiers. He wrote:

“This is a very important voice to the Medal of Honor team, this is a voice that has earned the right to be listened to. It is a voice that we deeply care about. Because of this, and because the heartbeat of Medal of Honor has always resided in the reverence for American and Allied soldiers, we have decided to rename the opposing team in Medal of Honor multiplayer from Taliban to Opposing Force.”

I guess we all expected this to come.
