Brain Age was a huge success for Nintendo and helped create an entirely new market on the DS. After the second entry launched in 2007, the series had become fairly quiet aside from a few DSiWare releases. That no longer seems to be the case though as Dr. Kawashima revealed in his book “Farewell Brain Games” that a third title is indeed in development. He did not reveal anything about the title, but said that it would probably hit in late 2010. Unfortunately, he doesn’t mention what platform it will appear on.
If it is going to appear on Wii, either through WiiWare or retail, a 2010 release doesn’t seem unlikely. On the other hand, if it is scheduled for a 3DS release, it wouldn’t fit the 2010 time frame. Considering Nintendo was previously considering 2010 for the release of 3DS, Dr. Kawashima may just be uninformed about the title’s release schedule. And of course, there is always the chance it will land on the original DS, but that seems unlikely at this point.
Either way, get ready for some more Brain Training!
