OILD – Snowpeak Ruins

MERRY OBLIGATORY ICE LEVEL DAY EVERYONE! I hope your day’s been just wonderful! And full of GLORIOUS, GLORIOUS LOVE! Speaking of which, it’s time for our last ice level. It’s Snowpeak Ruins, from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess!

Hey, it makes sense! The Zelda series is what TSG is best known for, there are YETIS, and the level’s all about love! Twilight Princess was one of the biggest Zelda games, and among the first Wii games. In it, Link is once again called upon by the gods to defeat the evil Ganondorf and free the wise Princess Zelda. However, this time Hyrule has been blanketed in a cursed twilight, which turns regular people into ghosts and Link into a wolf. What’s more, a mysterious imp named Midna also shows up, both to aid him and to insult him. The race is on as Link must break the curse of the twilight, find the Master Sword, and infiltrate Hyrule Castle to stop Ganondorf.

Link can only find his way to Snowpeak Ruins after he leaves an odoriferous reekfish out, at which point something picks it up and walks off with it. Using his wolf form’s acute sense of smell, he tracks down the fish’s scent and following it through Snowpeak’s unforgiving blizzards. When he comes to the ruins, he finds a huge…you guessed it… YETI. The yeti’s name is Yeto, and he’s actually a rather friendly monster. Unfortunately, his wife Yeta is very sick, and Yeto is more concerned with making some soup for her than anything else. Yeta claims there’s a Mirror Shard (an artifact Link had been searching for) in the bedroom, but her illness has made her a bit dazed and at first she accidentally directs him to a pumpkin and some cheese that were stored in the ruins. But hey, at least Yeto can use these in his soup! When Yeta drinks the finished soup, she becomes well enough to lead Link to the bedroom herself, so he can finally get the Mirror Shard. Unfortunately, the shard curses Yeta and after startling the heck out of anyone playing the game, she is transformed into Blizzeta, a huge ice-like monster. Once the monster is defeated, Yeta returns to normal. Yeto arrives just in time to find his wife purged of the curse, and they share a big monstery hug. AWWW! As an added gag, hearts fly out of the hug, and Link can use these to restore his health. One of the hearts is even a Heart Container, which Link can use to extend his own life meter. OH GAME, YOU ARE TOO SILLY.

MIDNA IS NOT IMPRESSED >( Also I’ve always assumed Yeta hid her arms into her fur so yeah. Anyway, the full wallpaper is here!

So yeah, here’s some nice music for you all. Snowpeak Ruins plays in this area in Twilight Princess. Snowpeak plays in the surrounding land. Blizzeta plays during the boss battle. Frozen Hyrule is from Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, though technically it’s a wintery version of the Dark World theme from Link to the Past.

And of course we have a remix! The Electric Flute is by halc, and it’s a remix of Frozen Hyrule!

…… Oh, who am I kidding, here, have one last remix! Super Mario’s Sleigh Ride is by the OneUps and it’s dynamic and awesome! HECK YEAH!

NOW GO ON, GET, STOP LISTENING TO ME TALK ABOUT VIDEO GAMES AND GO HAVE A GREAT DAY!

MERRY OBLIGATORY ICE LEVEL DAY TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GREAT EXTRA STAGE!

  1. Ah, Zelda. You and your silly yetis. My brother had warned me before I tried fighting Blizzeta for the first time, and she still managed to just about scare my pants off when she requested I “NOT TAKE MIRROR!”

“HAAAAAAAAAAANS PLEASE BEAT THIS BOSS FOR ME ;-;”

…yeah. On my second playthrough, I DID do it myself! D: stupid ball and chain being slow and stupid me for being slow and unable to aim properly-

Gotta love those silly yetis, though. <3
