Microsoft reported a total of 1.9 million units of their Xbox360 console was moved in December, which is the most units sold in Xbox history for Microsoft. This, naturally, of course is most likely due in no short part to the popularity of the Kinect and the plethora of amazing Microsoft-exclusive titles.
More importantly, however, is that $6.2 billion dollars was spent [in total] on Xbox-related products during the month of December, and the company recorded a growth of nearyl 42% for their console market. This outclassed the other big 3 competitors in terms of speed of growth.
“Despite this, Microsoft still experienced out of supply situations in late December, and it expects supply constraint to continue in January and February as it works with retail and manufacturing partners to expedite production and shipments to replenish the channel.” states a Microsoft representative.
There have been over 50 million Xbox 360 consoles sold, with nearly 8 million Kinect units in homes across the globe.
