Treyarch Angered With Fans

Apparantly, Treyarch is getting fed up with video game fans.  [Protip:  NOT A POPULAR POSITION TO HAVE]

Well, I suppose that’s a little extreme.  Treyarch are specifically angered with gamers that  get angry over original/creative titles and want the same game over and over again.

Too many developers who try new things are getting burned by “pundits” and angry entitled fans who look to be contrarian, sometimes simply for the sake of being contrarian.  The only thing this attitude aims to achieve is stunt that creativity and innovation even further, which is something that no rational gamer looking to be entertained would want to do.” says Olin.

So what do you think?  Do you guys get angry when developers try new things, or is Treyarch getting its underwear in a bunch over nothing?

  1. Let me get this straight. Treyarch, the company living off of Call of Duty, is angry with fans that want the same game over and over again? Ironic isn’t it?

But to be honest, gamers do tend to get angry over changes in games. I speak from experience, since I was ****ed when I found out about Sucker Punch changing Cole’s look in Infamous 2, and I flipped my s**t when I saw what Ninja Theory did to Dante in DmC. Other then that though I pretty much have an open mind when it comes to gaming, which is more then I can say for a lot of other gamers.

  2. New ideas are always great, I think that Treyarch just took gamers wanting the same thing too literally. Gamers just don’t want to see developers making shovelware because one or two games that may seem innovative sell well, and yes I’m reffering to Carnival Games for the Wii.

  3. -WARNING, LOTS OF TEXT-

While I agree that many gamers, sadly too many of them, cannot accept change in their video games. Personally, I don’t usually give two-hoots about small changes; like location, character lead, and minor mechanical tweaks, but when they completely change a game from it’s foundation (I.E. the new dante design for DMC (I thought he was a chick at first!) then, yes, I will become offended. We have come to expect at least a few basic things about the games we love: the story (at least in some games), the Idea, the flow, or pace of the game play, and most of all, the cast – or at least the character archetypes. It is from these elements that we relate our gaming experience to, and which should be at least somewhat preserved. Game developers have all the right to change things up a bit in their games (see the evolution of enemy personality/difficulty in Halo). However, If they are going to completely, or mostly, scrap a game and start from scratch; start a new series.

  4. Treyarch should be open to just keep it the same and add a little change to it but at the same time keep the formula that has been keeping them on the CoD life support for all these years

  5. After playing 4 years straight of Call of Duty games I can say that TreyArch and the gamers are being…meh. Anyways, TrayArch just shipped out the same game with getting rid of problems from MWF2 but gave themselves a bunch of new problems I will not get into. Year after year its the same thing with same meh storyline. They should add more new things than just a dolphin dive and some CoD points wager matches where you find yourself having to many CoD points in the first place. 😐 And if the fans are apparently getting all stupid about them making changes? Well I think 1.) They are disillusion and 2.) If they don’t want changes play older Cod games. Just my two cents (Sorry im just bitter that I bought the same game 4 years in a row spending over $300 on the same thing.)
