Rumor: Multiple Sources Confirm New Nintendo Platform for E3

Right off the back of a rumored Wii Price drop, another rumor is making rounds. Game Informer has confirmed with multiple sources that the Wii successor’s announcement might be closer than we think.  Sources say the title will be revealed this summer at E3 or possibly sooner.

While there was no comment on any sort of new control scheme or anything, an anonymousness source said, “Nintendo is doing this one right. [It’s] not a gimmick like the Wii.” The platform reportedly has graphics comparable to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The sources indicate that the platform is scheduled for a late 2012 launch, and that Nintendo is already showing the platform off to third party developers.

Not much we can do right now other than wait until E3 to see if anything pops up. If we do see it, I don’t think we will see anything big at E3. Maybe just a tease.

  1. And console wars start anew. And just when we thought this gen would last a bit longer. More money to shell out :/ But on the plus side… WHOOOOO MORE NEW GAMES!

  2. I don’t see how Nintendo could really improve the control scheme, so I’m not expecting anything too big other than a major graphics overhaul. Games are going to look so different with HD graphics!

And I’d love to see a 3D Metroid game on this new console; just sayin’.
