Xenoblade Chronicles to be released in the United Kingdom on August 19th

In a news item that would interest some of our UK readers, the release date for Xenoblade Chronicles for Europe has been moved forward from September 2nd to August 19th (One day after my Birthday… Joy). For any Europeans or potential importers, a Special Edition of the game is also available for pre order. The Special Edition contains a red Classic Controller Pro (as with the Special Edition of Monster Hunter Tri) as well as three exclusive posters signed by Tetsuya Takahashi (the head of Monolith Software). Along with it’s uniquely British voice-acting (Which the gaming industry could use more of rather than hiring Nolan North for everything), humongous landscapes and unique gameplay, Xenoblade Chronicles ranks up with The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower as some of the best Wii games for gamers to look forward to during 2011.

Final Fantasy Type 0 80% finished, Final Fantasy XIII Versus news coming soon

Despite the optimistic stigmata that surrounds the progression of Final Fantasy Type 0, the game has also been confirmed to be delayed to at least this autumn (in Japan anyway). In an interview with the game’s director, Hajime Tabata, he stated that the main reason for the delay was the PSN downtime. The most relevant piece of infomation given in the interview is that that game will contain between 30 to 40 hours of gameplay and it will be 100 hours fully (So there’s only be 50 hours of cutscenes minimum? Awesome!).

New trailers for Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD released

As Fumito Ueda prepares for the release of The Last Guardian, the spiritual sequel to his previous games, his company plans to re release his previous two games, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus in a HD format. In order to generate interest for the release, two trailers were released, one for each game, promoting interest in the re release which is due late September. The new releases will feature trophy and 3D support, a feature not found in the PS2 version. While the games were intended to be sold separately, the games will also be available in a collectors bundle which contains the games, a 100 page booklet detailing how the games were made and exclusive themes that come with both games. The trailers can be viewed after the jump and while the double pack is set for a late September release, The Last Guardian is due to come out during Spring 2012.

Rumour: Playstation Network Redesign currently being tested

Despite Playstation Network having been out of order for about three months (unless you live in Japan where it should be avaliable tommorow), it seems that Sony is still working hard to continue to satisfy its userbase. The recent revamp is said to declutter their current design, to make it more familiar to people already accustomed to the Xbox 360′s interface or that of Steam’s HUD. As an example, the movie section is said to reference IMDB’s design, with the title on the left and infomation on the right, while a similar approach will be taken for video games which can be categorised by genre, publisher, developer and so on. This move is likely to be an oppotunity to regain the trust of the service’s fans who sold their PS3 in favour of an Xbox 360 during the hacking scandal however honestly if you’re not content with two free games and a 30 day free trial of Playstation Plus than I don’t know what will.

Chrono Trigger is coming to North American Virtual Console May 16th

Fans of what is considered to be one of the greatest JRPG’s of all time may be displeased to hear that Panzer Dragoon Saga hasn’t had a HD remake yet, but while you wait, why not play Chrono Trigger! In a statement by Square Enix, the game will be hitting North American Virtual Console on May 16th. For those of you who never played the original SNES version or even the Playstation one port (Or as we call them, Europeans), Chrono Trigger involves you and your party time hopping from era to era in order to stop an arcane wizard from summoning Lavos, a monster of Tarrasque proportions from destroying the world. Fans of the game are likely aware of the DS port containing two extra dungeons, an extra ending (the original game had thirteen depending when you fought the final boss) as well as retaining the ten animé cut scenes brought in from the Playstation One port. Most notable of the changes was that the game had a more literal translation of the text. The general consensus is that while the DS version has a more faithful script, the SNES retained most of the charm of the japanese version and it is usually prefered by fans of the game. The game will cost 800 points and while it has been confirmed for Europe, there is no release date so far so I guess I’ll have to get back to Final Fantasy VI.

Pandora’s Tower recieves Four Minute long Trailer

Pandora’s Tower: Until I Return To Your Side is the latest project by Ganbarion, a company well-known for their work on the Jump! Super/Ultimate Stars! series as well as creating the One Piece games (One Piece: Gigant Battle which looks to be a fusion of Jump! with One Piece characters will be released in Europe this Summer). Pandora’s Tower is about Ceres, a girl cursed with a condition that causes her to return to a primeval instinct if not fed the meat of a beast living in Pandora’s Tower. You play as Ende, a friend of Celes who decides to infiltrate Pandora’s Tower to find this legendary meat. Gameplay resembles a cross between a Hack & Slash such as Dynasty Warriors with various flips, slashes and shots as seen in Sin & Punishment 2. Whilst playing through the game, Ende will have three upgradable weapons: Twin daggers that can be used to close range combat, a great sword for enemies that prove to be tough to fight and a long scythe that can be used for puzzle section as well as nifty combat tricks. The trailer can be found after the jump and the game is set to be released in Japan on May 26th.

Guardian Heroes II

Guardian Heroes HD remake coming to XBLA

Guardian Heroes was a Beat Em Up created by Treasure for the Sega Saturn and it is well-known for being one of the best games they ever made (Along with Radiant Silvergun which ironically was also on the Saturn… and is also being ported to XBLA). Guardian Heroes is part of Treasure’s XBLA conquest, with their XBLA consisting of Ikaruga, Bangai O HD: Missile Fury (Which came out on XBLA yesterday and it’s really awesome), Radiant Silvergun which is set to come out sometime this year and now Guardian Heroes soon after that. Unlike the previous games, the HD remake will not be done by Treasure themselves but will instead be done by SEGA. SEGA plans to include; HD visuals (obviously), Online co-op play (For anyone disappointed with Scott Pilgrim), Arranged modes, and a new battle mode that allows up to 12 players to play at once (The original Guardian Heroes had a versus mode that potentially gave you selection of 45 characters to play as, including boss characters). Unfortunately, there is no news of a release date yet although if you’re dying to play a Treasure game, why not give Bangai O: Missile Fury a try.
