Future Sony Games to Include Online Pass

In recent news, it’s been said that Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will include an “online pass”. Which means, the game will include a code which is used to access the online features of the game. If a person buys the game used, they have to pay an additional $10 USD to purchase their own online pass to access the features. Sony has confirmed that future Sony titles will incorporate the online pass feature.

“Online Pass will be incorporated into Uncharted 3 and future Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) games with online functionality,” the company told Destructoid. “We will provide further information in the future. “

Looks like the used gaming market is going to take a little hit.

Metal Gear Solid 3D and Zone of the Enders HD in early 2012

Hideo Kojima unloaded a nice bit of information at his Tokyo Game Show presentation. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is planned to release in early 2012. A holiday release would have been fantastic, but this works as well. No official release date as of now.

Another series created by Hideo Kojima is Zone of the Enders. For those who have no idea what Zone of the Enders is, it’s a futuristic Action game focused around mecha combat. In short, fighting robots in space. Sounds pretty awesome right? The first two games Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner are Playstation 2 releases, and it even has it’s own anime that’s 26 episodes long. The games are pretty rare and hard to find as of now. The HD releases are expected to hit shelves early to mid 2012, with the anime box set coming sometime in the summer.

Dragon Quest X Footage and Information

Dragon Quest X is expected to release on the Nintendo Wii sometime in 2012. The Wii U version is still TBA. Dragon Quest X is an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). The game is taking place in Astoria, which contains five continents and five races. The game is expected to have a huge story. Although the game is online, players can choose to play alone and use NPCs, and create their own character. Character classes include Ogre, Elf, Dwarf, Pukuripo, and Wedi.

The game features a job system. One of them being an Alchemist. With Alchemy players can add attributes to current items. Events in the game tie into different seasons such a winter and spring. More Quests will be added after the games release, and additional quests will be available like they were in IX, perhaps sooner. Some quests will have multiple volumes.

If other players wear your crafted items you become a little bit famous. There’s custom inside and outside housing. Characters can be involved with crafting professions. A sewing system so players can make clothes. You can check out other players who are fighting. Create parties in the pub and other parties can choose to use your character. Ability to assist fallen players. Chat bubbles appear when you speak, and can interact with others online by using emotes. By using skill points, which are gained when you level up, it allows you to customize your character to how you see fit. Japanese consumers can apply for the beta, but it requires a USB storage device.

So far, this game is looking pretty good. You might see me picking it up in a year.

Xbox360 S Models Changing Matte Finish

If you’re a person who loves to have shiny and glossy items in your house, you might not be pleased with this. Microsoft has decided to change the outer finish of their Xbox 360 models from glossy to matte.

Glossy is that beautiful, shiny finish, but has a nasty down side by getting incredibly dirty from a single touch. Finger prints and hand prints everywhere. Most people know of gloss, but what about matte? Matte is a rough and coarse finish that feels slightly weird in the hand. It’s does not reflect light, like gloss does and it doesn’t get as dirty as it’s beautiful brother.

So if you’re a person who prefers a glossy console, pick up your Xbox 360 soon because Microsoft is making and shipping out those matte bad boys within the next few weeks.

“We are actively transitioning all our Xbox 360 S consoles to a matte finish.  The consoles will start to arrive in stores over the coming weeks, so if you really love the idea of a glossy console don’t wait much longer. Of course, we still may offer a gloss finish on Limited Edition consoles like the upcoming Gears of War 3, but if you have your eye on a glossy black console you don’t have much time left.”

Rumor: Four More “Nintendo Selects” Games On The Way

If you’ve been out of the loop for a few months, Nintendo recently revived their “Player’s Choice” line of games. They’ve given it a fancy new logo and a new name, Nintendo Selects. Nintendo Selects are Wii Titles which are lower than the normal price point.

Currently the only titles for Nintendo Selects are

  • Animal Crossing: City Folk
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (North America)
  • Mario Strikers Charged Football (Europe)
  • Mario Super Sluggers (North America)
  • WarioWare Smooth Moves (Europe)
  • Wii Sports

You can pick these badboys up for $19.99 USD (Only applying to the titles released in North America)

There’s talk of four more titles becoming Nintendo Selects status. The rumor states that Super Paper Mario, Mario Strikers Charged, Punch-Out!! and Super Mario Galaxy will be making their way in August.

That’s not a bad selection of games either, although Mario Strikers Charged is already in Europe. It’ll be nice to see these games at budget price, especially since a new copy of Super Paper Mario is still like $40 at Wal-Mart.

Keep in mind this is just a rumor at it’s current state, we will keep you updated if information is subject to change.
