We have no confirmation as to whether this is real or not, but it looks like an Australian retailer has leaked out a flier for an upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops map pack. The flier says that the pack will include five maps, four normal ones and a Zombie map. According to the flier you can expect to be shooting your way through a Zoo, Convoy, Hotel, and a Stockpile May 5th, so long as you are playing on Xbox Live of course. There’s not much information of the Zombie map besides that it will be named Call of the Dead. The full flier is posted after the jump if you want to check it out for yourself.
We’ve already seen footage of Black Op’s upcoming map pack, First Strike. But that was more of a developer diary. Activision’s lastest video is actually a trailer, showing off some action packed gameplay within the levels.
The map pack is heading to Xbox Live first on February 1st, followed by a PS3 and PC release at a unannounced date. It will set you back 1200 microsoft points, or $15, but it does score you four new competitive maps and one new zombie map.
You can check out the trailer after the jump.
Bored of Nuketown yet, or of Call of Duty: Black Ops in general? Well, Activision is looking to revitalize your intrest, along with taking $15 from your wallet. On February 1st, Xbox 360 owners will be able to try their hand at the new First Strike map pack!
The release is complete with five new maps, one of which is a new zombie map. Competitive multiplayer maps include Berlin Wall, Discovery, Kowloon, and Stadium.
As of right now, PC and PS3 details haven’t been released, but you can probably guess that they will be coming some point in the future. I’m sure Microsoft is paying a lot of money to keep Activision quiet for now though.
You can check out Treyarch’s trailer/developer diary for the pack after the jump.
Same pricing structure as last time which is whopping $15 dollars. I expect all map packs for Call of Duty games for a good while will stick to this price point considering it still sold extraordinarily well the last time around.
The pack features 4 new competitive maps and a new Zombie Mode map they are as follows. “Discovery”, an abandoned Antarctic Research Facility, “Stadium”, a hockey rink;”Kowloon”, Hong Kong; and “Berlin Wall,” set at Checkpoint Charlie. The Zombie Mode map is titled Ascension.
These maps will first be appearing on the 360 and will later make their way to PS3 and PC.
A new secret has just been found in Call Of Duty: Black Ops in Nuketown. Throughout Nuketown there’s a load of mannequins dotted around the map. It’s been worked out that if you shoot off all the heads of the mannequins within a certain amount of time you will unlock a hidden easter egg in the game which will play a Rolling Stones song – “Sympathy for the Devil” from the speakers.
A wee video showing this up after the jump (: Although the vid is like 9 mins long, from 2 mins on its just the teams victory dance to the unlocked song.
Did you fancy the latest Medal of Honor? If you were disappointed, you may be looking to get a little cash for it. UK retailer HMV is offering a deal that drastically cuts the price of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Once traded in, the title will only cost you £7.99, a whopping £47 savings from the usual price.
EA can’t be too happy about this deal. The one saving grace for them is that this deal does not include the PC version of the game. So if you want mouse and keyboard controls, or already went for Medal of Honor on PC, you won’t be able to make use of the deal.
If you are unhappy with Medal of Honor and are looking into getting the latest Call of Duty, this deal is a no brainer.
Youtube videos have been feeding Call of Duty fans with leaked footage of Black Ops for several weeks now with footage from single player campaign to its Zombies mode but now the games last big secret seems to have been revealed a weeks before the release.
The Black Ops ‘Dead Ops Arcade’ mode was mentioned in a legit Acheivements/Trophies list back at the end of September but now Youtubers are claiming that this is an unlockable arcade mode which is actually a spin off of the title’s popular Zombies mode.
Just like the Zombies mode, Dead Ops is a round-based game that enables you to clear waves of the undead, except this time it’s from a top down perspective, using the left analogue stick to move and the right one to fire. This mode supports co-op play also.
I’m assuming that all the videos showing this on Youtube have been removed by Activision already but they were there showing footage supporting all of this information. One video showed a ‘Speed Boost’ allowing you to blast through 20 or so enemies at a time and this ‘Speed Boost’ was also talked about in the Acheivements revealed in September.
Remember the banning and resets of cheaters on games such as Starcraft 2 and Halo: Reach? Well, in both those cases, the developers of their respective games were very serious about the offenses made by the cheaters and chose to deal with them accordingly.
However, as we’ve seen today, it may be a whole different ball game when it comes to Activision and their upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops. Pirates have apparently been obtaining leaks of the game and selling them. While Activision is obviously concerned, their enforcement was somewhat strange.
To stop the leaks, Activision hired IP Cybercrime. While the investigators do look to report the pirates to the FBI, they first ask the pirates politely to stop and divulge where they got their leaked copy.

Multiplayer customization has always been a huge part of the Call of Duty series. In the newest installment, Black Ops, the amount of customization available to players has been increased quite a bit.
In the past, players unlocked certain assets such as perks or kill streaks at certain levels. In Black Ops, players will be able to view everything in a specific category once they reach the required level. The catch is that you now have to purchase these assets via in-game currency known as COD Points, similar to the Armory in Halo: Reach.
Of course, there are more things to customize than ever before, such as emblems. You can check out the trailer for these new features after the jump.
There was a pretty big uproar in the PC community when Modern Warfare 2 moved away from dedicated servers and modding. But that won’t be the case with Treyarch’s upcoming entry in the series, Black Ops. Or rather, eventually it won’t be the case.
As of right now, Treyarch is completely focused on creating the game, so modding will have to come later. One of the developers on their offical forum said,”We plan to open the game up for modding sometime post-launch.” How long after the launch is currently unknown.
The developer also said, “And, dev console: confirmed.” I have absoutely no idea what that means, but I’m sure some of you do.
