Today THQ not only announced that there will be a Homefront 2, but that original developer Kaos Studios isn’t in charge of making it. That honor goes to none other than Crytek- who will most likely use their award winning in-house Cry Engine to power the game.
“Homefront‘s unique setting and storyline captivated gamers the world over,” THQ’s Danny Bilson said. “With Crytek’s industry leading technology and legendary experience in the FPS genre, we’re supremely confident that the next Homefront will deliver that AAA-quality experience that players demand.”
Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli believes that his studio can turn Homefront into a “truly blockbuster game.”
With THQ desperately wanting the next Call of Duty, and pouring a truly massive marketing budget into the original, they must want results desperately if they’re willing to give the title to a third-party developer. On the other hand, this is definitely a game worth keeping an eye on…
