Portal 2’s Co-Op mode just got a little larger with the release of Valve’s free “Peer Review” DLC, which adds more to the story of Atlas, P-Body, and everyone’s favorite passive-aggressive homicidal AI, GLaDOS.
In addition, the DLC pack adds challenge maps to both single player and co-op, as well as leaderboards so you can show off how great you are. Valve also decided to put Portal 2 on sale on Steam for just $14.99 until October 6th to celebrate, so get it if you don’t have it already.
Normally I don’t like to comment on DLC announcements unless it’s something big- and I think this is worth it.
Today Netherrealm Studios announced at Komic-Kon that the mystery 4th DLC Kombatant is none other than Freddy Kreuger. Wielding claws on both hands, he’s ready to bring the nightmares to life.
The DLC will be available August 9th, 2011 on the 360 for 400 Points or $4.99 on PSN, free if the Mortal Kombat Season Pass was purchased.

American McGee’s Alice has a sequel, Alice: Madness Returns, making it’s way to consoles pretty soon. But the original which was supposed to be released on consoles never saw it’s release there. It was only released on PC where it gained a very large cult following. From a quote with an interview with American himself Destructoid has derived that it will be included as a DLC code with pre-order.
“There’s also going to be a pretty significant release which is the original Alice brought over to the consoles so that a person who’s purchased [the upcoming sequel] Madness Returns gets a download code and is able to bring Alice 1 onto their consoles and play through the entire original game alongside playing Madness Returns.” EA is apparently not talking about it, but it sounds both likely and cool. For those of you who never got to check out the original prepare to be underwhelmed, but still it is nice to see the new games roots.
We’ve been following it for awhile, but here is solid proof of an Arcade Edition of Super Street Fighter IV being on the way. Consoletech has an exclusive trailer leaked to them from an anonymousness source, revealing Arcade Edition to be downloadable content for Super Street Fighter IV.
According to the trailer, this update will add quite a bit of new content. Most importantly, four new characters, Oni, Evil Ryu, Yun and Yang will all be jumping into the brawl. All character balancing made to the arcade release will also be present in the console release. You can switch between playing SSFIV players and Arcade Edition players.
New features include a revamped replay mode where you can post your replays and share them online. People can, what looks like, subscribe to your video account, seeing replays as you save them. They will also be adding an Elite Channel, with replays of players with 3000+ PP.
We have no confirmation as to whether this is real or not, but it looks like an Australian retailer has leaked out a flier for an upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops map pack. The flier says that the pack will include five maps, four normal ones and a Zombie map. According to the flier you can expect to be shooting your way through a Zoo, Convoy, Hotel, and a Stockpile May 5th, so long as you are playing on Xbox Live of course. There’s not much information of the Zombie map besides that it will be named Call of the Dead. The full flier is posted after the jump if you want to check it out for yourself.

Capcom recently announced that both Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica X would be coming to downloadable services in HD alongside their announcements of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, and the Resident Evil: Revelations demo that will be included in Resident Evil: Mercenaries for 3DS. Some footage got out onto the internet, as it always tends to do, and it’s really quite flattering. It shows of Resident Evil 4 gameplay using an Xbox 360 controller and it looks significantly better than any previous version of Resident Evil 4. I don’t really know how much they can do to Code Veronica X considering it’s Dreamcast roots.
The Footage has since been debunked as the PC version of the game that has been tweaked to show the 360 prompts. Still this is a good example of what the game might look like since it was on PC. Check out what the upcoming release may look like below.

Super Stardust HD has been out for awhile on PSN. You could say it was the Geometry Wars of PSN back in its day. Now they are adding a whole new mode to the game called Impact. It’s going to be DLC for the game that adds a new mode where the goal is to keep your boost going while avoiding obstacles around the planet such as asteroids and enemies.
Bioware is looking to finally bridge the upcoming Mass Effect 3 and Mass Effect 2 with their new DLC, Mass Effect: Arrival. The story is focused around a mission to save a spy who has information on a coming Reaper invasion. Presumably, this is the very same invasion that will become the focal point for Mass Effect 3. You can pick it up on the 29th, the Tuesday after the launch of the 3DS.
Halo: Reach has certainly been fairing very well in the sales department. The game earned over $200 million in the first 24 hours of its September release. Bungie saw even more revenue with the release of the Noble map pack in November, which brought three new maps to the multiplayer experience.
However, we learned recently learned that more DLC is on the way from Xbox Live’s director of programming, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb via an Inside Xbox video. Hryb commented that Reach fans can expect another map pack very soon. Unfortunately, we didn’t recieve any further information.
This info isn’t very surprising considering Halo 3 released a total of four map packs in its lifespan. Hopefully, the new maps will be as impressive as the ones we’ve seen already.
We’ve already seen footage of Black Op’s upcoming map pack, First Strike. But that was more of a developer diary. Activision’s lastest video is actually a trailer, showing off some action packed gameplay within the levels.
The map pack is heading to Xbox Live first on February 1st, followed by a PS3 and PC release at a unannounced date. It will set you back 1200 microsoft points, or $15, but it does score you four new competitive maps and one new zombie map.
You can check out the trailer after the jump.
