Zone of the Enders 3 “Sort of Pushed to the Back” says Kojima

Not too long ago, we heard that Kojima was “really considering” developing Zone of the Enders 3, and got a surprising amount of response.  It seemed like it was going to be only a matter of time till we got some sort of announcement. Unfortunately, that no longer seems to be the case.

During a Q&A session, Kojima “sort of pushed to the back” due to “various things.” One of Konami’s producers, Kenichiro Imaizumi, said that in order to make progress on the title they would have to stop working on a current project.

So Zone of the Enders fans might have to wait quite a bit longer till we see another title.

Kojima Talks About His Next Project

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is almost out on store shelves. And while the project still needs some final work done, Kojima is already pondering on his next title.

Thankfully, Kojima decided to share his thoughts over his official twitter account about his next title.  “I’m thinking about the casting for my next title. The project plan still hasn’t reached a detailed level, but everything is advancing simultaneously in my head. Title, game design, story, characters, setting research, the mecha that appear, casting, graphic direction, sound, beginning and ending, the major story sequences. It comes together naturally in my head

He later tweeted again saying that his next project might be a bit risky.

The next project will challenge a certain type of taboo. If I mess up, I’ll probably have to leave the industry. However, I don’t want to pass by avoiding that. I turn 47 this year. It’s been 24 years since I started making games. Today, I got an ally who would happily support me in that risk. Although it’s just one person. For a start, it’s good.

Of course at this point, no one really knows exactly what the project will be except for Kojima himself. But apparently, some of his fans have been jokingly suggesting a Metal Gear Solid dating sim.

Some one was nice enough to make a mock up design which you can see after the jump.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Goes Crossover Crazy With Monster Hunter, Front Mission, Assassin’s Creed and More

Konami is going all out with cooperating with other companies in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Konami is going to gaming companies, soft drink companies, and more for extra content for the title.

Probably the biggest crossover is with Capcom and the Monster Hunter series. Up to 4 players will be able to fight monsters from the series on “Monster Island” including Tigrex and Rathalos. Players will even be able to cook rations so they are more effective.

The next tie in is mainly focused on one item from a series. On April Fools, Konami released a video, which you can check out after the jump, that showed a collaboration between Ubisoft and Konami with an Assassin’s Creed themed box. The box is made of hay. Players can perform eagle jumps into the box and use the hay for stealthy take downs.

The third, and final, major crossover is with Square-Enix and the Front Mission series. In Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, bosses will drop special pieces of armor. This armor can be brought over to the yet to be released Front Mission: Evolved. Exactly how the process works or if it will work with the 360 version of Front Mission: Evolved is unknown at the moment.

You can check out some of the smaller crossovers  and the Assassin’s Creed crossover gameplay video after the jump.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Co-Op Boss Battle Gameplay

Last time we got a look at how Co-Op works, but this time we get to check out a boss battle with Co-Op and the different roles players can perform.

From the video, it looks like they’re encouraging a typical MMO style set up with one player as a healer, one player as a damage dealer and one player as support.

Definitely worth a look if you are looking forward to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Co-Op Gameplay

We have seen some single player gameplay for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Now you can check out the Multiplayer Co-Op for the title. It shows more gadgets then before and how team work can help take down enemies.

It all looks fine and dandy and actually gets me a bit excited for the game, but the AI seems a bit off. Some times it seems like players are basically in soldiers faces and they still don’t realize they are there.

The video is a lengthy 10 minutes, so make sure you have some time before you sit down and watch it.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker details including multiplayer, plus screen shots and character renders

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker looks to be shaping up to be a great entry in series. But if you aren’t convinced on purchasing the game, Konami let out some more details about the title.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is taking a tip from its older brother Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops by allowing players to recruit felled adversaries on the field. Each of these units will have their own special attributes. Once recruited these soldiers will go to Snake’s “Mother Base” which you can see in the screen shots (28-31). The more soldiers at the base the more functions that will be at snakes disposal at the base. Some of the basic functions of the base is to store items snake has collected along his missions and upgrading his weapons.

While Snake make have a small army as his disposal, he will have to deal with new AI weapon enemies. These enemies are massive heavily armed unmanned vehicles, some of which can fly and hover. The AI weapons won’t only take on Snake but they will also talk and sing during battle using VOCALOID technology.

And last, but not least, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will have a multiplayer component using the PSP’s Ad-Hoc capabilities. The modes currently announced so far is four player co-op missions and 3vs3 battles. No other details were announced, but it was said that the multiplayer used in Metal Gear Solid Online was the building ground for the game.

PSP owners pick up Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker May 25th in North America and May 28th in Europe.

Screen shots and character renders are after the jump.
