Pandoras Tower Ceres

Pandora’s Tower Trailer 2

Here’s the second trailer for Pandora’s Tower, Nintendo’s Devil May Cry / God of War style hack and slash.  Since the last trailer we’ve learned quite a bit about the game. While we only saw a slice of action with the chain weapon in the first trailer, this trailer shows that it is an integral part of the game used for grappling, swinging and combat, and is not just some side weapon.  It actually plays a part in the plot as well, ripping flesh off beasts to feed Ceres, a girl cursed to become a monster if she doesn’t eat the raw meat.

The title is launching next month in Japan, but there have been no signs of a Western release just yet.  We’ll have to cross our fingers for E3.

Sonic Generations Destruc

Where’s Our Wii Version of Sonic Generations?

Sonic’s fan base was dispersed all over after the Dreamcast croaked. And while there are plenty of fans on all platforms, most would probably agree that Sonic’s biggest fan base is probably on the Wii. So why would SEGA ignore the Wii when it comes to their recent reveal of Sonic Generations? A SEGA rep basically told Kotaku that the Wii doesn’t support HD, and Sonic Generations is an HD game. Therefore, no Wii game.

Kind of a lame excuse, if you ask me. I’m not saying the Wii version of past Sonic games looked as good as the 360 or PS3 versions, but I feel like the system still did the titles justice. But who knows, maybe SEGA has something else in the works for Wii. We’ll have to wait and see what crops up. Until then, I hope you have a 360 or PS3.

You can also check out the trailer released today after the jump.

Xenoblade Emperor Sorean

Xenoblade Voice Actor Tweets Release Month

Nintendo still isn’t ready to talk Xenoblade Chronicles‘ release date officially, but Peter Dickson is! Peter Dickson confirmed on his twitter that he plays the role of Emperor Sorean in the game. At the end of his tweet he said, ” Out Sept.”

So the date could change, but September is as good as month as any. Nintendo of America has yet to confirm the release for North America, but they did register a domain name for Xenoblade Chronicles. So hopefully that will work out.

Nintendo 3DS Moves Just Under 400,000 Units in March

We’ve already heard that Europe has sold 303,000 units in the launch weekend for Nintendo 3DS, but now Nintendo of America has their official numbers out, putting the platform at just under 400,000 units.

While 700,000 across western regions in the early launch window might sound like a victory, some analysts are suggesting that sales have slowed down significantly on the platform. This leaves the question if the situation will mirror Japan’s, where just under half the units shipped remain on store shelves.

Nintendo also announced that Nintendo DS shipped 460,000 units in North America last month, along with Pokemon Black and White finishing the month at 2.4 million units sold. The Nintendo Wii falls at the bottom of the bunch with 290,000 units sold.

Rumor: Wii Price Drop Incoming

It’s hard to believe that the Nintendo Wii can still retail for only $100 less than a PlayStation 3 and matches the price of the lowest Xbox 360, even with the bundled software.  But when you’re still making tons of money, why drop the price?

Despite still moving a hefty number of units each month, Engadget has been told by a “trusted source” that Nintendo is preparing for a price drop. According to the source, the Nintendo Wii will retail at $149.99 starting May 15th.

Nintendo some time ago started including Wii Sports Resort and the Wii Motion + with all new Wiis, with the exception of the Mario Red Wii that featured New Super Mario Bros.  So, that is sort of like a price drop, even if they’re forcing you to buy $50 worth of stuff.

We will have to wait and see if this price drop surfaces officially in the coming month. Anyone still without a Wii?

Nintendo Foreshadowing Slim 2011 Line-Up for Wii?

If you’re a Wii owner in North America or Europe, there hasn’t been much for you in 2011. Mario Sports Mix… Mario Sports Mix… That’s really the only title we’ve had launch this year. We’re in April and we’ve only see one Wii release by Nintendo. So what is Nintendo telling their fans right now? ‘Wait till E3, then we’ll blow your mind!’ With E3 2010′s line-up of Wii titles, that definitely seems possible. But are recent moves by Nintendo of America and Europe suggesting a slim line-up for E3 2011?

NoA Registers Xenoblade and The Last Story Domains

It’s taken awhile, but it looks like Nintendo’s two 2010 RPGs released only in Japan might make it to North America. Xenoblade Chronicles, which was announced for Europe last week, is looking for a likely North American release with Nintendo of America registering xenobladechronicles.com.  We also get our first sign of Nintendo localizing The Last Story with a registered domain by Nintendo of America for thelaststory.com

These are not confirmations, but they are definitely a good sign. I really hope both titles get localized, although I’m still not sure if I’d pick up The Last Story. Xenoblade would be a day one purchase for me though. Let’s hope Pandora’s Tower follows.

Tower of Pandora

First Trailer for Nintendo’s DMC-Style Pandora’s Tower

A few months ago, Nintendo announced  a surprise  Wii title, Pandora’s Tower. The only hint we got of what the title was about was a image of a girl with a tattoo on her back and a couple of lines of dialog. Now we get our first look at the title and it is, oddly enough kind of looks like Devil May Cry in terms of gameplay.

As we can tell from the trailer, the title uses a hack n slash formula mixed with a variety of weapons including what looks like your standard sword, a scythe, and a grappling chain. The title is being developed alongside Ganbarion, who has previously worked on One Piece titles and Jump Super Star over the past ten years. We’ll have to see if they can prove themselves with a new IP.

Pandora’s Tower is launching in Japan May 26th. Will the title get localized? Who knows. We’re set to get one Wii title before E3 in North America, but Nintendo of America hasn’t spilt the beans on what title that is exactly.  But if it does launch simultaneously with Japan, then this could very well be that title. At this point, I remain skeptical about the localization any Nintendo published title that doesn’t have Mario  or some other big franchise character in it.

Yuji Horii

Dragon Quest X “Going Well”

Aside from a logo, we have still yet to see anything about Dragon Quest X, despite being announced exclusively for the Wii two years ago. But nothing to fear! Series creator Yuji Horii spoke to Nintendo Power and was questioned about the games status, and the future looks bright.

All we can say is that development is going well and we’re on the last parts of the game. We can’t really share much else at this point, but by the end of this year we should be able to announce something regarding it.

Yuji Horii did release a single tidbit though. He says fans have been demanding for the title to be more in a Dragon Quest VIII style, so he’s taking that into consideration while moving on.
