Everyone’s Favourite Lawyer gets Trailer for Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3… Also Nova

While Phoenix Wright appearing in UMVC3 pretty much dis confirms him as a DLC character in Tatsunoko vs Capcom, I doubt anyone would have thought that he’d be able to shoot laser beams out of his hand or summoning the judge to slam a gavel on his opponent (Probably a reference to the opening of Justice For All). All this and more is revealed in the latest batch of trailers by Capcom displaying the aforementioned layer and Nova, a superhero whose special powers include laser eyes and flight (Kind of like Superman except gold). These characters go with the Doctor Strange, Firebrand, Ghost Rider, Frank West, Hawkeye, Nenesis T-Type, Iron Fist, Strider Hiryu, Rocket Racoon and Vergil who will also be new arrivals to UMVC3. Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom will be released for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 in November this year.

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright Trailer, Likely NA Release

During the Tokyo Game Show, publisher Capcom was present en masse, promoting their products heavily. Among the promotional materials were flyers in English promoting Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, the first time Capcom has recognized the English title. In addition to that was the statement that English character names were TBD, stopping just short of officially announcing the game for a North American release.

Among the teasing text was the official trailer for the game, and I swear that if they pull a Mega Man Legends 3 on this game there will be heads rolling…

Anyway, the trailer is after the jump.

Phoenix Wright Live Action Movie Confirmed

Takashi Miike, most well known for his unsettling films Ichi: The Killer and Audition, is being put behind the helm of the live action Pheonix Wright movie. While I have never seen a movie by him in the same light hearted fashion that I associate with Pheonix Wright I have seen him do comedic films before.

Takashi Miike is one of the most experienced directors around having directed around fifty four films since 1991 when he started. The movie is going to be foriegn language of course and may not come out in America, but I am sure fan subs will rear their head soon after it’s japanese release in spring 2012. I am incredibly excited to see both Takashi Miike doing a light hearted movie and Pheonix Wright come to life on the silver screen. For more information on casting check after the jump.

Rumor: Japanese Director Working on Ace Attorney Movie?

The Ace Attorney series has seen a couple of adaptations outside of  a game form. Both a Japanese play and a manga have been created based off the series. Now the title may be seeing a movie conversion.

Takashi Miike, director of Ichi the Killer, made mention of his next project in an interview Huffingtonpost at the Cannes film festival. Takashi said, “it is a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS.” It’s hard to imagine it being anything else other than Ace Attorney, unless it is some other random court room DS game. But I’d say Ace Attorney would be the safest bet.

Who knows how far along the project is or if it will ever see light of day. Until then we’ll just have to harass Capcom about localizing the sequel to Ace Attorney Investigations.

Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton to get crossover game

At Level 5’s press conference earlier today, The companys CEO Akihiro Hino announced with Ace Attorney creator, Shu Takumi that their Professor Layton series will cross over with Shu’s Phoenix wright series for a brand new project for the 3DS. According to Andriasang:

“The game’s story has Professor Hershel Layton and Phoenix Wright (Ryuichi Naruhodo in the Japanese version) finding themselves in a different world. They come to the medieval city of Labyrinth City, where reality and illusions are intertwined. This strange town is also home to witches, who hide in the shadows, and is a place where magic is real. It has also been home to a number of impossible occurrences of late.

The city is controlled by a villain named Story Teller. The story he writes with his pen becomes reality as the future of the world.”

Other details of the game are scarse and the release date has yet to be announced. See images after the jump.
