Resident Evil 5 Move Support Gold Edition Exclusive

Fancy yourself some PlayStation Move controls with your Resident Evil 5? Gold Edition owners will be getting a  patch absolutely free-of-charge, but what about the original game?

Capcom has said that due to technical issues, the original version of Resident Evil 5 will not be receiving PlayStation Move support. So if you want yourself some motion controls with your zombie shooting, you will have to pick up a copy of Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition.

A bit disappointing. But with a company like Capcom, it doesn’t seem like them to do this just to be greedy. It probably really is technical issues with the build of the original game.

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition was originally going to support PlayStation Move controls at launch, but then the device was delayed from Spring 2010 to Fall 2010. The title has probably already been PlayStation Move ready for awhile, and Capcom is probably just waiting for a green light for the update.

This trailer shows off all of the DLC goodies you get when you purchase Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation3. If you already have Resident Evil 5 you can purchase the DLC for the game separately on PSN and XBLA as they become available.

Unfortunately Capcom has no plans at this time to bring the new DLC to PC.

Capcom currently has no plans to bring Resident Evil 5 DLC to PC

The X-box 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Resident Evil 5 are getting quite a bit of DLC soon, but what about the PC version? According to a Capcom representative the current answer is “No plans for PC at this point.” This means PC players will be missing out on two extra episodes of Downloadable content. I honestly am surprised Capcom hadn’t laid anything out for the platform yet. Hopefully that will change further down the line and PC users will be able to enjoy the additional content as well.

Capcom bringing Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition to Retail in North American as well and lays out DLC schedule

Awhile back ago Capcom asked how they wanted their Resident Evil 5 additional content in North America. DLC won on the poll and that is what we got, but now Capcom is bringing the title to retail anyways. So what was the point of that poll? I have no idea.

Anyways moving on, come March 9th in North America and March 12th in Europe gamers will be able to purchase Resident Evil: Gold Edition which includes all the content in one package. Gamers who pick up the PS3 version will have all the content on a single Blu-Ray disc while 360 users will receive a download ticket allowing them to download the content for free. The title will cost $49.99, a full $10 under the original Resident Evil 5 launch price.

Those who already have Resident Evil 5 will be able to pick up pieces of the additional content via DLC as we get closer to the Gold Edition’s launch.  You can check out the DLC release schedule after the jump.

Capcom believes Resident Evil 5 is "Possible" on Wii

For awhile Capcom said that Resident Evil 5 was not technically possible on the Wii. But according to the Product Manager for Resident Evil: The Dark Side Chronicles, Matt Dahlgren, Capcom has had a change of heart.

At Resident Evil 5’s launch it was announced that a Wii version was not technically possible. But after some of the work that Cavia has done (with Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles), the producers of Resident Evil 5 over in Japan now think it is possible. Some of the light effects in the South America stage are pretty incredible. Whether it is going to come, I don’t know the answer to that question. But, it has been said that now at least it is possible.

So Wii owners who missed out the latest entry in the Resident Evil franchise may get their shot at Resident Evil 5. If it did come though it will probably have to cut back in some areas. Hopefully it wouldn’t have to cut back as much as Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop had to.

Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition coming as DLC to North America and Europe

Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition will be coming to North America and Europe as DLC as opposed to being a retail product like in Japan. The content will be avalible for purchase this spring on both PlayStation Network and X-box Live.  No pricing has been specified yet.

Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition has a new mission called “Lost in Nightmare” which has you infiltrating the Spencer Estate as Chris and Jill. If the DLC adds on all the additions from the retail version of  Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition then the PlayStation 3 version will also have motion controls added using Sony’s new motion controller which  is set to launch this spring in Japan.

Resident Evil 5 Versus Mode 40% off all week on X-Box Live

X-box Live Gold members will be able to grab Resident Evil 5‘s Versus mode this week at a 40% discount. I don’t know if or when this deal will come to PSN. If its not already up then keep an eye on the US PlayStation Store update that usually hits on Wednesdays.   The deal isn’t available in Japan though, so if you live in Japan you will be out of luck when it comes to Resident Evil. Instead Golf: Tee It Up is up for 400 points.

Capcom wants to know how you want your Resident Evil 5 bonus content

Japan is getting a retail version of Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition.  Capcom wants you to decide if you want the game to come as a stand alone package to North America or a Downloadable Content for North America.

So far we know Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition includes a new chapter that takes place in the mansion and motion controls for the PlayStation 3 version of the title.

If you want to see the content go either way you should definitely head over to their Capcom Unity blog and to make sure your voice is heard.

Resident Evil: Alternative Version bonus content heading to 360

Because of the motion controls, Resident Evil: Alternative Version looked to be a exclusive for PlayStation 3. It looks like the bonus content will be coming to 360 as well without the motion controls via DLC for the 360. Hopefully the DLC option will be available to owners of  the original version on PS3 as well.

Resident Evil: Alternative Version is currently scheduled for a Spring 2010 release on PlayStation 3.
