Capcom have reminded us that although Dino Crisis and Onimusha reboots seem far away, they haven’t been forgotten.
Dino Crisis is a Resident Evil style dinosaur game and its last major title was Dino Crisis 3 for the original Xbox back in 2003. Capcom VP of Strategic Planning and Business Development, Christian Svensson has said, “Dino Crisis 3 I think is where it went off the rails if I recall. Dino Crisis’ success really was an out cropping of Resident Evil 1 and 2. There are discussions, Dino Crisis comes up from time to time, but there isnt any burning desire from R&D or the business side to light that franchise back up again.” So Dino Crisis does seem to have a future, there’s just no ideas yet..
Samurai action series Onimusha on the otherhand is ‘percolating’ within Capcom. Svensson tells us that, “Onimusha is tricky in particular given how Japanese-focused the franchise has been…The brand doesn’t right now have quite the resilience that you might think. While Onimusha 1 and Onimusha 2 are among our more successful titles, Onimusha 3 and Onimusha Dawn of Dreams, not so much. You may see some things of the brand pop up in the future, I can’t say what, but there are certainly discussions about it.”
So yeah, let’s hope for more ideas gaiz.
I LOVE ME SOME SCARY GAMES. And as we inch ever closer to Halloween, I’m reminded of the super-awesome Resident Evil marathon TSG had last year. Capcom itself lent support by donating prizes, promoting, and even recording bumpers for the show! It was great, and I <3 THEM VERY MUCH.THUS, SOME ADORABLE FANART OF SOME OF UMBRELLA’S DEADLIEST CREATIONS…

Rumor has it that at Capcom’s Captivate 2010 event this past week the company announced a new Resident Evil Wii title.
As of right now, almost all, if not all, details from the event have been embargoed, so what has been announced is currently unknown.
The leak comes from a Spanish forum from a user who previously leaked a variety of details concerning last years Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles months before an official announcement confirmed them.
On Capcom’s side of things, there are a lot of rumors floating around right now. Supposedly, Devil May Cry 5 is in development alongside Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and now this.
We will have to wait a bit longer to find out any solid details from the event.
BUT! If there is a new Resident Evil title coming to Wii, I hope it is in the Resident Evil 3.5 style. I’ve been wanting a Resident Evil game like that for awhile.
Look at me, talking about my Resident Evil fantasies when the title hasn’t even been officially announced.
Is there a certain direction you would like to see a Wii version go?
Last year the Gamecube titles Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 received ported to the Wii via the Archive brand name. It looks like Capcom might be planning more ports using the Archive name.
A Capcom UK represenative was asked about more ports making it to the Wii, he replied “Although we have nothing further to announce at this time, it’s unlikely we’d need a collective term for just two releases.”
It seems like it would be pushing it a bit porting PlayStation releases as full retail games today.
Maybe a compilation disc of the remaining 3 titles may seem a bit more suitable. Or better yet, remakes of the original titles.

Albert Wesker is back to turn up the saturation in Lost Planet 2, but only if you preorder at Gamestop. Not only will you get to play as Wesker but players who preorder also will also unlock a small but powerful revolver.
Capcom currently expects Lost Planet 2 to be ready for launch some time this winter.
What an excellent marathon. There’s so many people that we need to thank, starting with Capcom. They raised the awareness of our marathon and helped further legitimize what we game for. As of right now, the community has raised over $8,200 for Diabetes Research and Wellness. The chip in will remain available till Tuesday Nov.3.
This community really is awesome. Think about this; we’re just under $2,000 away from raising $100,000 total for various causes. $100,000 in under 2 years!!!!!!! Unbelievable!! This is just the beginning for TSG.
Because of the time of the year it is with the college semester in full swing, prizes might take a bit to come your way. I’ll email the winners this week and get shipping details finalized.
Tomorrow I’ll post the full winner’s list.
Next up, our most highly anticipated Marathon this year: Pokemon Marathon 2, starting December 18th.
Enjoy the blog and events we have planned to kill time before our next marathon!
THANKS! to Capcom for donating the prizes, making those awesome promo videos, and lending their support. It’s heartwarming to see a company whose work we admire help out such a great cause.
THANKS! to Mana Potions for donating the wonderful prizes and for letting us know that a blood-inspired energy drink is not only possible, but delicious.
THANKS! to The Speed Gamers themselves for giving us such an entertaining and fun marathon, for donating their time and money, and for battling the evil Umbrella Corporation.
And a HUGE HUGE THANKS! to you, the community. Whether you donated, promoted, or just stopped by to enjoy the fun, you really made this marathon special. I hope you all return in December!
Please accept this adorable Resident Evil Hunter, Tyrant, and Licker as a token of my gratitude. You all ROCK!
I’ve loved Capcom ever since I was a kid. In fact, Mega Man 2 is one of the first games I ever played! Their games have inspired my art for most of my life, so it’s a real thrill to see them help out with TSG’s marathon. You’re helping out a great group and a great cause, Capcom! Thanks a billion!
TheSpeedGamer’s Resident Evil marathon to raise money for The Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation begins Friday October 30th @ 6pm cst and will last 48 hours. A live game feed will be broadcast right here on our site www.TheSpeedGamers.com alongside a commentary feed and chatroom.
To keep things interesting there will be a “Pumpkin Cam”. We will place a webcam inside of a pumpkin outside of the house so the viewers will be able to see the trick or treaters in a separate stream beside our main feed. We want the full Halloween experience 😛
Capcom will be supporting us for our Halloween marathon. They have donated several prizes such as multiple copies of RE5(360,Ps3 and 2 autographed PC versions by the producers of RE5) and Re Archives (Wii). We also have a Resident Evil 5 collector’s edition(Xbox 360) which Phil is giving away and three copies of Looney Land Halloween Hill that Blackduck was able to hook us up with.
Click “Read the rest” to see which Resident Evil games we will be playing and who will be playing them and the commentator schedule.

Hey again. Still wrapping up some big stuff, then I can respond to the nice notes you all leave for me. In the meantime, here’s something I doodled while thinking of the RE marathon. I love animals and I love monsters and I love animals that are also monsters. In Resident Evil 4, there’s a lake monster called “Del Lago.” Many people don’t know this, but Del Lago is based on the Japanese giant salamander, one of the largest amphibians in the world. Just how Los Illuminados got their hands on one is beyond me, but it’s cute so I won’t argue. No, they don’t have tentacle-mouths in real life.
Come to think of it, there’s another famous game monster based on the Japanese giant salamander…
