After pictures of Resistance 3 were spotted showing off the new PSN Online Pass ‘feature’, Eurogamer asked Sony to explain themselves.
“We are always evaluating new programs for our online offering, and starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities.”
“This program will be game-specific. Games that are a part of this program will include a single-use registration code that grants the account holder redeeming the code full online access for that title.”
“This is an important initiative as it allows us to accelerate our commitment to enhancing premium online services across our first party game portfolio.”
Reading between the lines, it sounds pretty much like EA’s decision to employ single use codes to activate all of the game’s features, and get some extra money out of used game buyers; since if you happen to obtain one of these select titles that’s missing the PSN Pass, Sony will be ever so delighted to allow you to buy another one in their store…
So buyer beware, once November rolls around most games developed and/or published by Sony will likely need a code to unlock half the game.

Didn’t see enough of Resistance 3 at the VGAS? Dying for more!? Director’s cut to the rescue! Sony has released a director’s cut of the trailer that appeared at Spike TV’s VGAs. Unfortunately, there is no new actual gamepaly here, but there is some more live action footage that got cut from the trailer.
It will still be awhile till we actually get our hands on the title. The release date is September 6th, so still a good nine months away. Until then, we will just have to chill around and check out all the trailers Sony releases.

Not too long ago Insomniac went multiplaform opening up new possibilities for them on the Xbox 360. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be anymore exclusive PlayStation 3 content from the company.
The developer has teased that a PlayStation 3 exclusive title will be revealed some times during PAX. While we won’t be sure until September 3rd, 4th or 5th, speculation if floating around that the title will be Resistance 3.
The first sign we saw of Resistance 3 is from a billboard that will be appearing in the movie Battle: Los Angeles which is due out in 2011. If the title is announced at PAX, there is a good chance it would see release in 2011.
In Sheveport Los Angeles there is a billboard that says “RESISTANCE 3” on it with a PS3 logo across the top. Apparently film sets are fairly common in this area. Some speculation suggests that this scene is for the movie Battle: Los Angeles which is being produced by the Sony owned studio Columbia Pictures.
The film is currently set for a February 2011 release date, so one could assume that Resistance 3 will be launching some where near that or at least in 2011. If the title is expected to release somewhere around that time period then you could probably expect to see Resistance 3 at E3 2010 which is still quite the ways away.
