Final Fantasy V arriving to JP PSN

As part of Square Enix’s promotion for Final Fantasy Dissidia Duodecim, They plan to release Final Fantasy V on the Japanese Playstation Network. V is considered to be one of the more under-rated entries in the series which never recieved its initial Super Famicom release for Western gamers however the later PS1 & GBA versions were released overseas. There is no confirmation of a Western release of this port however considering Sqeenix for the most part has been steadily releasing their PS1 backlog through PSN (And yet no English Einhander…), the chances are rather likely. Final Fantasy I & IV are already avaliable though Virtual Console which most likely pave the way for Final Fantasy VI so despite the rather cluttered process of releasing their previous entries (Expect FFIII to be released on XBLA), It’s nice to see the games are recieving their deserved releases.

Square-Enix Releases New Duodecim Dissdia Trailer

Square-Enix of Europe released a new trailer today showing off a good five minutes of Final Fantasy: Dissidia Duodecim. You’ll find a nice mix of gameplay, cutscenes and CG bits. For the most part the trailer has pretty much all the officially announced characters, including Yuna. Oddly enough, Prishe was only shown in CG form in this one. Although she is a Final Fantasy XI character so I’m guessing many are able to do without. The end of the trailer also teases another character

The title is set for March in North America and Europe, so you’ll have it in your hands soon.

Keep your Final Fantasy XIII Save Data

Did you beat Final Fantasy XIII? Don’t delete that save data! Square-Enix advises fans to not delete the data as it will play some part in Final Fantasy XIII-2. Exactly what, they did not explain.

I haven’t picked up Final Fantasy XIII yet, but I still kind of want to. Most people I hear talk about it often say they haven’t beaten the title for one reason or another. It will be interesting to see how the title performs on the market considering that XIII didn’t exactly get the best reception.

Lara Craft has a pain in the side

Tomb Raider Reboot is Dark and Gritty

I’m not sure any series has seen nearly as many “reboots” as the Tomb Raider franchise. But yet again, here we are with another reboot.

Game Informer has a first look at the game with all new screenshots, CG, and concept art. I’m not entirely sure what to think of the new dark and gritty style of the game. It will be intresting to see if Square-Enix swings their own way with the title, or try to create a carbon copy of the Uncharted series.

The title is set for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The current release window is 2011, but with all the delays Square-Enix and Eidos have been calling recently, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see it pushed back.

Romancing Saga 2

Romancing SaGa 4 Coming Sometime Before Producer Dies

The SaGa series has been sort of pushed to the side over the years, making way for other more popular Square-Enix series. And while the SaGa series still continues, the Romancing SaGa games stopped at the third entry. Where, oh where, is my fourth entry?

Square-Enix Producer and series director of the SaGa series, Akitoshi Kawazu, says that a fourth title will come… he’s just not entirely sure when. He does give us a window though…  some point between now, and when he dies.

Depending on how you look at it, that can be incredibly short or an incredibly long wait, not that we want Akitoshi to die (he still has to make it!). The exact quote reads, “There are many fans who want a Romancing SaGa 4, so I believe that it is my duty to make it before I die.”

SaGa games aren’t very popular outside of Japan, and Square-Enix knows it. The titles rarely get localized. So even if a Romancing SaGa 4 is a created, fan translators are likely to be our only hope.

Square Enix trademarks Final Fantasy Type-0-

In a move that unsurprisingly has not gone un-noticed amoungst Final Fantasy fans, Squeenix has filed “Final Fantasy Type-0-” For a European release. Alon wth the trademark, a possible logo was given which appears to be in Kanji. This is pretty unusual for corperate trademarking since it makes sense to trademark a name as it culd e easily duplicated while a logo is much more specific. Squeenix has their first production press conference next month so perhaps this is a precursor to the future? A full image of the logo and the trademark in question can be checked out after the jump.

Dissidia Duodecim

Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy Jump Festa Trailer

What? Jump Festa was awhile ago, you say? Yeah, but that still doesn’t mean we can’t post the five minute long trailer of Dissidia Duodecim from it! That’s one lengthy trailer, and you can watch it after the jump!

The most notable addition you will see in the trailer are the new characters added to the roster. Tifa, Vaan, Laguna, Kain, and Lightning are all joining the fray! Not so obvious is the trailer’s demonstration of the assist system. Essentially, players will be able to get partner characters to join them in battle. Like Capcom’s VS. Series, you can have them temporarily jump into combat.

The title is set for an early 2011 release in Japan, North America, and Europe. So PSP owners should keep an eye out for this title.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation hitting US Shores February 14th 2011

Have you ever wanted to give a gift to your special someone that requires them to grind battles until their thumbs fall off? Well now you can with Dragon Quest VI! DQVI was the final game in the DQ SNES trilogy and was the only main game in the series to never make it over to US shores (DQVIII was the first game in the series to be released in the UK so we have a long way to go). The game will undergo a similar revamp as IV and V did in terms of graphical capability, teaked battle system and addition of touch screen controls. There is no work of a UK release date though consdeing the success of the previous two games, it’s best to say that it’s likely to get a release date soon. A full trailer was also presented with the news which can be viewed after the jump.
