High Voltage Software’s The Grinder just can’t get a break. Originally it was a Wii exclusive Left 4 Dead style shooter, and still is in its current build on the Wii. The title then shifted focus to a top down shooter on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, similar to High Voltage’s Eerlier title, Hunter: The Reckoning.
So, where does it stand today? Well, currently the title isn’t exactly moving anywhere. According to High Voltage Software’s Eric Stoli they’re still looking for a publisher. As for the status of the game itself, it is hasn’t moved much from the previous work we had seen on it, remaining still in a “vertical slice status.”
The company is open to the idea of changing the focus of the title. Some ideas they have right now push for more action packed gameplay, on the flip side they have also been looking at adding in RPG elements.
At this rate, I’d guess the title probably won’t make its initial intended release of Halloween 2011.

Rumors had it that the Wii version of The Grinder had been scrapped after the title saw a major redesign. Thankfully that is not the case. And according to High Voltage Software’s Chief Creative Officer, Eric Nofsinger , The Grinder is indeed still in development for Wii and will be remaining a first person shooter.
“The expansion of Grinder to 360 and PS3 and its subsequent change in gameplay and perspective has been somewhat misinterpreted as a universal change across all platforms. We still genuinely love the Wii and would ideally like to see a publishing partner pick up both a FPS Wii version and a third-person action version specific to the 360 and PS3.”
Currently, The Grinder has no publisher on any of platforms. High Voltage Software has a good relationship with SEGA, but SEGA is a bit skepticle releasing another M rated game on Wii. Your guess on what publisher might pick it up is as good as mine.
The Grinder is set for Halloween 2011, so they still have plenty of time to find themselves a publisher.

High Voltage Software’s The Grinder was originally announced as a Wii exclusive, but it might actually turn out to be the only console it doesn’t release on.
Kotaku recently had a hands on preview with the Xbox 360 version of The Grinder, and when asking the lead designer of The Grinder about the Wii version he kept his mouth shut. Kotaku pressed him harder asking if the Wii version was still even in development, but the designer wouldn’t comment.
As of right now, The Grinder doesn’t have a publisher, but High Voltage Software has been sticking fairly close to SEGA who said the chances of another M-rated Wii game from them is slim.
High Voltage Software said we should be hearing an announcement for the Wii version some time soon.

If you hadn’t read yet, at GDC High Voltage Software made some major changes to The Grinder.
The footage comes from the Xbox 360 version of the title. From what we know so far this is what the PlayStation 3 and PC version will be very similar.
As for the Wii version High Voltage Software says they have an announcement for it coming soon. “We have not made any announcements on the Wii version at this time, but I expect us to do so soon. I will say that all versions of the game will share a large portion of the content that we create.”

Not long ago The Grinder was announced to be heading to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in addition to the already existent Wii version. High Voltage Software decided to show the title off at GDC this year and a major changes have been made to the HD counterparts.
The Grinder, previously a first person shooter on Wii, is now a top down shooter. Similar to Smash TV and Robotron 2084 players use the left analog stick to move and the right analog stick to fire.
As of right now this top down shooter version is only planned for the game’s HD counter part. High Voltage Software is currently determining whether or not to keep the Wii version as a first person shooter right now or changing it to the top down perspective that the HD consoles have.
I’m all for first person on the Wii. How about you guys?
High Voltage Software was determined to create hardcore games on the Wii, and they somewhat succeeded with The Conduit which they released last year. The company also had another title in the pipe line for Wii, The Grinder. Now the title has been confirmed for heading to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC as well.
“Bringing our third internal IP to all the current-generation systems allows us to show off what our company can really do and get it into the hands of the most gamers,” said High Voltage Software’s Eric Nofsinger.
The development team wouldn’t go into details about these new versions and told gamers to stay tune for some announcements coming at GDC.
The Grinder is currently planned to hit all consoles Halloween of 2011, so we still have quite some time till the title finally hits.
