Portal update round-up; Portal 2 on the way?

Chances are you have heard of the updates that have been hitting Portal recently. But if you haven’t keeping up with it, here is a quick overview on what has been going on the last few days.

Valve performed a mysterious update on the PC version of Portal that added a new achievement called “Transmission Received” along side a variety of new sound files added to the game. Some of these clips were found included Morse code which translated to

1. interior transmission active external data line active message digest active
5. 9e107d9d372bb6821bd91d3542a419d6
(decoded to “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog”)
12. system data dump active user backup active password backup active
17. beep beeeep beep beep beeeep beeeep beeeep beep beeeep beep beep
(decoded to”LOL”)

The other sound files translated into images which you can see in the gallery after the jump.

Using these images fans pulled out the code 9459C6CAC8C203B8128B7CC63068D4FD which is a encoded phone number for a Bulletin Board Service.

This revealed some text and some ASCII art, which can also be seen in the gallery.

The last update changed the ending to portal Portal which you can view after the jump as well.

No one is really sure what all this is pointing to yet, but the first thing that probably comes to mind is Portal 2 possibly being announced somewhat soon.
