Marvelous Creating New 2D Game for 3DS

Rumours about the 3DS are as frenetic as when the system was first announced. Within the first couple of months after E3 2010, there were rumours that VanillaWare (most famous for their Japanese styled 2D action games such as Princess Crown and GrimGrimoire) would port their most recent game, Muramasa: The Demon Blade to 3DS (this being despite the other rumours detailing that Vanillaware were planning HD ports of Muramasa and Odin Sphere to the 360/PS3).

While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, in an interview today with Marvelous by Siliconera, the president of Marvelous, Yosifumi Hashimoto (he’s credited as the producer of Muramasa: The Demon Blade and the Rune Factory series) said that he’s working on a different game for the 3DS that utilizes 2D artwork. “It’s not Muramasa, but I’m working on a 3DS title that has really incredible 2D visuals while taking full advantage of the 3DS’ capabilities,” more details will be reported on as they are confirmed.
