Those looking forward to the return of the Mega Man Legends series were slapped with double bad news today. Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype, which was originally scheduled to launch along side the e-shop on 3DS this June, has been delayed. Although the good news is that it was delayed to improve the quality of the demo. Capcom didn’t give a window of when the demo will be available.
Those who hoped to jump into the series via a downloadable rereleases of past titles are out of luck. Capcom says that there are issues in terms of the rights of some of the content in the titles. Capcom has been unable to locate the current owners of these rights, so a PlayStation Network release seems unlikely.
This comes as a bit of a hit since, while the original Legends title is fairly affordable, the second entry catches quite the high price. I’m sure you can enjoy Mega Man Legends 3 without playing past entires, but some people like to do that sort of thing.
The only recent port of the titles was to the PlayStation Portable, including both 1 and 2 on a single UMD. Unfortunately, this compilation was only released in Japan.
