OILD: Kickle Cubicle

Day 6 of OILD and we’re a day closer to the marathon! This is a goofy, fake holiday meant to build hype for The Speed Gamers’ Zelda marathon, which starts December 12th! We’re raising money for Mercy Corps, so I hope you all help us out by promoting and donating! Sometimes, the featured “stage” in Obligatory Ice Level Day is a whole icy game. And this time, that game is Kick Cubicle!

Kick Cubicle is a weird little puzzle game. Enemies romp around on an icy floor, and your job is to turn them into ice blocks. Why? Because if you kick them into the water, they float and can form a bridge to different areas of the map. Why doesn’t he just use some of those extra ice blocks to build his bridge? Because shut up, that’s why! So why does he want to get to the rest of the map anyway? Well, obviously to grab bags of money and popsicles, duh! Wait, why is he doing THAT? Oh, right, because a horrific, talking ear of corn with a face told him that some evil force has taken over the world and that somehow all of this insanity is the only way to save the day. Because… sure, video games. Why not. And if you’re wondering “are giant evil chickens going to try to destroy me in this game?”, the answer is a resounding “OBVIOUSLY!”

Music? MUSIC! Battle on the Snowy Mountain and Battle on the Snowy Mountain ~ Second are both from Odin Sphere! Odin Sphere’s about as weird as this game, so why not, I say!

And now for remixes! Retro Remix Revue did a great mix of Iceberg from Kirby’s Dreamland 3, though it’s on a CD of theirs, and you should definitely buy it! And Ice Mountain Symphony is a remix of the Ice Forest in Super Ghouls n’ Ghosts, and it’s by McVaffe!

Have you taken a look at our awesome marathon prizes? You should, because all these great things will be given away!
