Ya’ll, oh do WE have a marathon for you! This summer (July 12-19) we will be playing through just about every Zelda known to man to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The format will be a follow up to our 2016 Summer marathon, Hyrule vs Lorule. For this event we split our group up in to two teams, Hyrule and Lorule. Through the gameplay players will be able to earn points for their team. At the end of the week, we will crown a champion to the team with the most points. You will be able to view the entire event on twitch.tv/thespeedgamers
We will be posting more details about the point system and how viewers can tilt the bout for their team. We have so much planned for this event and I cannot wait for you all to see it!! Until then, take a look back at our original Hyrule vs Lorule marathon with this retrospective done by Jasef:
Check it out through Monday, December 17! If we reach $8,000 by Monday at 6pm CT, we’ll extend the marathon a full 24 hours!
Last night we wrapped up our Soulsborne marathon benefiting Direct Relief. Our fall event continues to grow. In fall of 2016 we raised $4,500, 2017 $7,000 and this year $8,300! Thank you to everyone who contributed, from the viewers to the volunteers on site. A special thank you to Kampy and MC from Zeldathon/Direct Relief who assisted in making the event so successful. During Soulsborne we also debuted our new mascot/logo Molasses designed by Space Coyote. Overall a very memorable event with new faces, stunts, and more to look forward too.
Up next we have Nintendo All-Stars benefiting St. Jude Chidren’s Research Hospital December 14-17 2018 on twitch.tv/thespeedgamers. More details will be coming soon. Be sure to keep up with everything TSG by watching “TSG After Dark” every other Monday at midnight on our twitch page. Next episode is on Monday October 22. See you in the chat!
Our 2018 Soulsborne Marathon for Direct Relief is now LIVE! Tune in through Monday, October 15 at 6pm CT as we play through the Dark Souls and Bloodborne series for Direct Relief! We’ll be giving away prizes from Fangamer throughout the event, so you won’t want to miss out on all the fun!
Our 2018 Pokemon marathon is now in the books! We raised over $17,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital this past week. Thank you for all of the support throughout the event and over our ten year history!
The rest of 2018 is jam-packed with TSG events. Very soon we will be at Camp Fangamer (July 21-22), their ten-year anniversary, too. You will be able to watch us live stream a variety of Fangamer games while raising money for charity. More details soon!
Our next marathon is “SoulsBorne” (Dark Souls+Bloodborne franchises) October 12-15 for Direct Relief. Prepare to watch us die — A LOT. We will have a good mix of goofy runs and equally bizarre commentary.
Our last marathon of 2018 will be “Nintendo All-Stars” December 14-17 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We will be picking from Nintendo’s huge catalog of games that spans several generations. You will see everything from Battletoads on the NES to Super Smash Bros Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch.
Finally, we have announced our weeklong event for next year, The Legend of Zelda Marathon 2019: Hyrule vs. Lorule II. This event is planned for July 2019. This marathon will be a follow up to our successful 2016 Hyrule vs. Lorule marathon.

Hey guys, Jasef here!
Over the past week, TheSpeedGamers was privileged enough to send three people to the St. Jude PLAY LIVE Summit at the St. Jude Campus in Memphis, Tennessee. Phil, Minikitty, and I got to spend three days learning more about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and seeing the amazing things that they do for extremely deserving kids and families up-close, and we came back with more of a resolve than ever to do everything that we can for this incredible organization.
St. Jude PLAY LIVE season kicked off on Friday, and it runs through May 31. As most of you know, our upcoming Pokemon Marathon for St. Jude begins on Friday, June 8, so we’ve decided to kick off the campaign early in order to participate with PLAY LIVE!
Head over to https://tiltify.com/+tsg/thespeedgamers to check out the campaign (the exact same one for the marathon), and you’ll be able to see our goal of $50,000, check out some milestones along the way (with more to come), and donate for some incentives! Right now, we are offering up the nicknames for the starter Pokemon evolution lines, the names and genders for the player characters in the games that will be played in the marathon, and the rival names for any game that allows that. Pokemon line nicknames are $50 each, and names for either a player character or a rival are $75 each. All donations, as always, will go DIRECTLY to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and these donations will also be added to our total for our Pokemon Marathon from June 8-15.
For more information on PLAY LIVE, visit https://stjude.tiltify.com/playlive. Remember, just as during marathons, it’s completely fine if you are unable to donate! One of the best ways to help us raise as much as possible is by spreading the word, so be sure to promote our campaign and upcoming marathon! We’ll be doing some contests on social media between now and the beginning of the marathon, so be sure to follow us on Twitter to see everything that happens!
We can’t thank you guys enough for all of the support over the past ten years, and we can’t wait to see you again on Friday, June 8 at 5pm CT for the start of our Pokemon Marathon for St. Jude! Tune in at http://twitch.tv/thespeedgamers!
Year 10 for TSG started out with a bang. We raised $10,600 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during our 96 hour Zelda Marathon. Thank you to all of the attendees, moderators and viewers for making this event so successful. There were so many special moments that we will never forget. Also, an extra special thank you to the Zeldathon attendees Kampy and Doug. It was awesome being able to meet them and have them take part in the event.
Things don’t slow down for us as we prepare for our upcoming Pokemon Marathon June 8-15. We are proud to announce that this event will also be for St. Jude. It has been 4 years since we have attempted to catch all of the Pokemon and in that time the capture number has grown. We are now tasked with catching over 800 Pokemon. It will be a challenge and can’t wait to broadcast our adventure starting June 8th on twitch.tv/thespeedgamers . See yo the chat!
