A Brief History of FMV Games

Full Motion Video games are a bit of a fascination of mine; specifically for me it is the PC adventure genre of FMV games that excites me the most. Combining the asinine and obtuse puzzles of PC adventure games with limiting full motion video graphics and often terrible writing and acting is something I can earnestly enjoy. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though, let’s start with defining what exactly an FMV game is.

Star Wars Arcade Trilogy Part 3 of 3

The third and final entry in the original arcade trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back! The title returns to the vector graphics style. But unlike the original title, it gives players more freedom than the past two titles, making it an impressive technical achievement for its time. All you youngyuns’ and your homie consoles these days! Don’t know that arcade quality! Actually, I was born pretty much when arcades were dying out, but that’s beside the point. Space Harrier! Quake 3 Arena May FINALLY be Coming to XBLA (And Possibly PS3)

In 2007, ID announced that Quake 3 Arena would be coming to Xbox Live Arcade. Flash forward three years and the game STILL isn’t out.

However, the game has recently been seen on OFLC Australian ratings board website, meaning we might be able to play Quake 3 Arena Arcade soon. Surprisingly, the game is listed as “multi-platform,” meaning we may see the game come to the PS3 as well.

A PS3 release would mean the ability to use a mouse and keyboard for the game, something that a lot of players would surely appreciate.
