Borderlands 2 Officially Announced

There were rumours floating around yesterday, but Gearbox have officially stated that Borderlands 2 will be coming to us – somepoint between April 1st 2012 and March 31st 2013 – one of the vaguest, yet accurate windows I’ve heard for a while

According to the Press Release given out today, there will be brand new characters, abilities, places to explore and of course all new weaponry and equipment with which to kill the brand new enemies, which is always a very welcome bonus. The announcement has come as no huge surprise, as time and time again, Randy Pitchford has stated he wants to do more with Borderlands, which has come in the shape of this sequel.

If they’re changing nearly everything about it, is there a chance it will fall into the same pit Square Enix did when they tried to revitalise Final Fantasy? Or do Gearbox know what they’re doing? Time will tell

Duke Nukem Forever Demo to be Bundled with Borderlands

Want to get your hands on Gearbox Software’s newest title, Duke Nukem Forever, before it hit stores next year? Well, now you can!

Provided you’re willing to shell out some extra cash for the Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition. The re-release of the game will give players membership to the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club, not to mention the 4 Borderlands episodes you receive from buying the game.

Membership to the club will allow you to play a demo of Duke Nukem Forever, as well as get a bunch of “goodies” when the game releases on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2011.

And haven’t you always wanted to be in a Duke Nukem Club anyway?

Borderlands : GOTY Edition

The Gearbox Software developers just announced that a special “Game of the Year Edition” [GOTY] of Borderlands will be re-released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 12.

The GOTY edition will feature the basic Borderlands game, all four downloadable contents, as well as a foldout map of the game’s over-world territories.  This special edition will run PS3/Xbox360 owners around $60, while PC gamers get a small break for only $50.

It was also hinted than an official GOTY strategy guide for Borderlands will also be marketed, although not confirmed.  It was originally seen via online retailers such as Gamestop last month, but the product was eventually pulled from the online status.

Borderlands was a little underling when it was released amidst a holiday ruled by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game has sense gone on to do very well and they are now releasing their 4th DLC pack for the game Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution. Rumor: Duke Nukem Being Finished by Gearbox

Duke Nukem was confirmed that they were going to finish it a while back, however this is the first bit of info we have gotten as to who might be doing it. Gearbox has worked on other developer’s shooter franchise’s in the past with Half-Life: Opposing Force and Half-Life: Blue Shift. Currently their shooter RPG Borderlands has become very popular and they continue to put out DLC for it. All the developer’s and publisher’s involved have issued “No Comment” statements so it could be true or it could not be.

Borderlands' creative director says Borderlands 2 is a "no brainer"

Borderlands’ creative director Mike Neumann had a interview with VG247. When asked about a sequel to Borderlands Neumann said “Borderlands 2 seems like a no-brainer to me.

I’m not sure how well the game performed in the market, but I do know Borderlands had a positive reception from journalists and gamers alike.  Considering the first title just launched, I’m sure it will be quite awhile till we see anything on Borderlands 2.
