Troubles Witches is the latest game by former fighting game devs SNK (Still waiting on KOFXIII home port SNK) that marks SNK’s first original SHmup of this generation (They previously released King of Fighters: Sky Stage and Neo Geo Ultimate Heroes on XBLA and PSN respectivly). The game is effectivly SNK’s equivalent of DeathSmiles as current trailers show a plethora of loli characters (even more with DLC) firing bullets of every colour of the rainbow with beautiful 2D graphics, a rock soundtrack, and basically everything that made DeathSmiles so great. Trouble Witch is set to be released for XBLA for 800MSP (The same as Guwange, Strania, KOF: Sky Stage and pretty much every SHmup on XBLA not called R-Type or Raystorm) so if DeathSmiles didn’t satisfy your love of SHmups, try out Trouble Witches on April 27th.
I realise it’s been a few days since the highly anticipated event however since I know that TSG has literally TENS of fans of the Danmaku SHmup company and that it’s rather fitting considering the first article I ever wrote as a TSG Writer was about Cavefest 2010, I feel obliged to inform you about the most recent events concerning the companies annual game show held at Akihabara last Sunday. Click after the jump to find a full list of announcements and why you sould buy their games.
On a litle note, DeathSmiles was released in the UK last Friday so I highly recommend that anyone who hasn’t bought it yet to go pick it up (It’s only £20, what more can you want?) Continue reading Cavefest 2011 Summary
For the UK edition of Deathsmiles, the UK publisher Rising Star Games confirmed that their edition of the game will be recieving content not found in editions. The “Ultimate” edition will contain the complete version of the game, the Mega Black DLC (An expanded version of the game with an extra character and a new stage) integrated into the game, A desktop accessory pack and the official soundtrack of the game. Nice to see that you get the soundtrack for the game (I’m looking at you BlazBlue) although I was hoping for a face plate considering that’s what the US limited edition got, although it’s nice to see Rising Star treating their fans like this. Fingers crossed that this does well to provide more money to bring over other CAVE game (DoDonPachi: Dai Ou Jou anyone?)
Rising Star are currently famous for being the only recognisable publisher in the UK for consistently publishing weird, unique and Niche Japanese titles for the UK market (No More Heroes 1&2, Little King’s Story, Muramasa: The Demon Blade) acquired DeathSmiles a couple of months ago for a release Spiring 2011. In a press release earlier today, Rising Star announced that this version will contain content never before seen in the US or even in JP!
“The European edition will be a collectible in its own right, offering content not available in either of the Japanese or US editions,” product manager Yen Hau told MCV.
“It is something unique to Europe, which will make collectors very happy. We expect incredibly good figures at retail.”
More news about the UK release will be announced sometime in the new year. And the new year can’t arrive any faster.
Gamestop have confirmed that ultra niche CAVE shmup Deathsmiles will have its standard edition released into Gamestops stores on Tuesday. Deathsmiles was originally released in the US as a limited edition intended to be bought by CAVE’s most hardcore fans as well as anyone who wants to play this moetastic shooter by including a faceplate, the soundtrack as well as the official game in this edition. Due to demand for the game though, Aksys decided to release the standard edition as well due to good sales of the limited edition (Typical, America gets two editions and Europeans have to wait until next year for the game).

Deathsmiles, a side scrolling SHMUP, is heading to North America thanks to publisher Aksys. It is a bit surprising to see a release since SHUMPs rarely hit home consoles nowadays in North America.
Deathsmiles is a Japanese arcade game featuring gothic loli girls. The title eventually saw a port to the Xbox 360 with enhanced visuals, which is the version we are getting.
The publisher didn’t announce any release date information, but you can probably expect it some time during 2010.
