Steam Copies of Dead Island Actually Xbox 360 Development Build

As many a PC zombie killer has already discovered; the developers of the newly released game Dead Island, Deep Silver, have made a huge mistake in their release of the game on Steam.

Instead of shipping the final product for the digital download service, they accidentally sold an early development build of the Xbox 360 version, incomplete and sporting multiple glitches and bugs, as well as no-clip mode enabled by default and toggled with a simple press of the “Y” key.

“We deeply regret that an incorrect version of Dead Island was inadvertently made available to players on Steam launch in North America,” Deep Silver confirms before adding: “We are very sorry for any issues you may have experienced while playing the game-the correct, patched version will be made available to North American players ASAP. Other territories are not affected by this situation. The fully patched game will be available on Friday as announced.” It takes guts to admit that the switch was merely on account of human error, and they’re working hard to make it right.

Risen 2: Dark Waters Debut Trailer

If you ever need a main character with a rocking eye patch… Well, you play Skies of Arcadia. But if you already have played Skies of Arcadia, you may want to turn to Risen 2: Dark Waters, the sequel to the 2009 PC and Xbox 360 title, Risen.

Published by Deep Silver, Risen was a action roleplaying game, giving players the choice of class and weaponry. The PC version the title was met with some impressive reviews, but the Xbox 360 port was widely considered poor. Hopefully this time around the console port will go over a lot better.

Risen 2 is set for release sometime in 2011 and will be hitting the PC and Xbox 360, as well as the PlayStation 3. You can check out the trailer after the jump.

Duke Nukem Critical Mass Launch Trailer

Starting today, if you live in Europe, you’ll no longer have to buy more gum. Apogee Software is launching Duke Nukem: Critical Mass for Nintendo DS. This title is a side scrolling Duke Nukem adventure rescuing babes from alien scum, as usual.

A North American release is planned for “soon after” the European launch. And with it coming out in Europe today, that should be soon… Soon after. I usually don’t post launch trailers, but Duke Nukem Critical Mass’ trailer, to my knowledge, is the first look we’ve had of the game in motion.
