Is the latest firmware update [meant to stomp down on cheating and pirating] a big success, getting people exactly what they deserve, or a gigantic flop hurting lots of “innocent” gamers?
While its too soon to tell if a lot of innocent gamers are getting hammered, check out some pleas of innocence on the Ps3 blog after the jump [courtesy of Ripten].

I’m not sure if we should be proud or ashamed of this.
According to data gathered, it appears that in the 45 days since Call of Duty: Black Ops has been released, gamers around the world have logged a collective total of 600 Million hours. Compared to Halo: Reach, in a similar [yet flawed] determination was under half of that total. This averages out for nearly 87 minutes a day for the 20 million players around the world.
Activision also recently announced that the total number of online users currently active outnumbered the viewing audience of the LOST season finale on ABC.
This might explain why so many of my friends stopped showing up to class.
While Microsoft giving players the ability to create user-symbols[the usual “no profane/inappropriate” rules obviously in effect] seems to be a great way to help allow individualism, they’re banning any and all uses of Swastika as a user tag. Some banned users made a fuss, stating that their goal was to help bring a new meaning to the symbol, and that C.O.D had been using the Swastika symbol for far longer in their WWII games.
“If you think the swastika symbol should be re-evaluated by societies all over the Earth, I think that’s great… Your Xbox Liveprofile or in-game logo, which doesn’t have the context to explain your goal, is not the right place to do that. It’s not political correctness, it’s fundamental respect.”
Great news for gamers who haven’t snagged Call of Duty Black Ops yet! If you purchase the game at target [starting November 7th and running through November 13th], then you purchase a Xbox Live one year subscription for HALF the price! That’s nearly $30 off the purchase price!
So if you’re an Xbox Live user, enjoy Call of Duty? I think I know where you guys are heading this weekend!
