The RPG is going to be a brand new title with brand new pokemon included. So what is so special about this one? The series is supposed to be getting revamped with new features and ways to play the game.

Are there any features you would like to see implemented into Pokemon? Possibly some current features you want taken out?

Why Totodile? I like Totodile.

OILD – Snowpoint City

Day 11, and only a week until The Speed Gamers’ Pokémon marathon! I’m hyped! And that’s why today’s ice level is Snowpoint City, from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl!

Snowpoint City lies in the northernmost point of the Sinnoh region, and getting there is no easy task. After venturing through Mr. Coronet, Pokémon trainers have to brave the harsh snowstorms of Route 216 and 217. The constant storms mean that all battles taking place on these route have the “hail” weather condition, which pelts all non-Ice-type Pokémon and damages them every turn. Skiers and other adventuresome folks don’t seem to mind, and will battle you at the drop of  a hat. What’s more, trainers hiking through these routes are up to their eyeballs in snow, making their movement difficult. Fortunately things lighten up once you get closer to the city. Lake Acuity is nearby, and around there you can catch Ice-type Pokémon such as Snorunt, Delibird, Sneasel, and Snover. Within Lake Acuity is Uxie, the mysterious Pokémon of Knowledge.

Snowpoint’s gym leader is Candice, and as you might expect she specializes in the Ice-type. Her gym is covered in ice, and trainers must slide across it in order to destroy the giant snowballs blocking their way. Candice’s main Pokémon is Abomasnow. She knows Swagger, Avalanche, Wood Hammer, and Grasswhistle, and can be a little tough to beat if you don’t have any Fire-, Poison-, or Fighting-type attacks on-hand.

And today’s wallpaper! It has a Delibird as you can see. The full version is here!

What’s that? You want MORE? Well Nina Matsumoto’s struck again with this incredible wallpaper of Sniper Wolf, the expert sniper from Metal Gear Solid! Yes, MGS counts because after all, the whole game takes place in a snowy climate. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: You definitely need to pick up Nina’s new manga Yokaiden volume 1 and volume 2 TODAY! Like Japanese monsters? Like hilarious dialogue? Like bizarre characters? Yokaiden has it all. “But I don’t read manga!” That is NO EXCUSE, SOLDIER. This is a comic everyone can enjoy, so get it!

And yep, we got us some music! Route 216 is the snappy, catchy tune it plays on the way to Snowpoint City. And here’s the Sniper Wolf battle music from Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. The original MGS didn’t have specific battle music, but Twin Snakes fixed that right up.

And oh yeah, we got remixes! Party in the Snowland is a remix of Frappe Snowland from Mario Kart 64, by DarkeSword! This is an oldie, but a goodie. It’s quick and energetic, and it can really get you in the Obligatory Ice Level mood. And wasn’t there some super-wonderful Route 216 remix out there? Hmm…

Sketchin'!!: Vs. Rust

So Rust has opened up the manliest, most terrifying Pokémon gym of all time in TSG Pokémon League. And by “terrifying” I mean “bizarre.” He’s certainly got the trash talk down, but I’m confident that once he timidly peeks from behind the rock he is undoubtedly hiding under (that’s where one plugs in a computer in the Australian bush, don’tcha know) I will destroy him thoroughly. I will demolish his team on a molecular level. They will be PokéVAPOR.

Here we see one of the many possible outcomes in which I win. Note the grace and confidence of my almighty Smeargle, versus his weak, pathetic Kangaskhan. Look on in awe as my Smeargle’s devilish cry chills the Kangaskhan’s very bones. She is the most powerful Smeargle in the world, and she will smash that little kangaroo-beast’s face into a thin gravy, she will! Go get ’em!

VG Flash #12 – Route 216

Aww yea’, now it’s time for a very relevant video. This cartoon was made to promote last year’s Pokémon marathon. Sinnoh is home to the first snowy town in the Pokémon universe, I loved Route 216’s music, and the marathon was going to be huge, so I couldn’t help myself.

The statue-like creatures in the video are based on dogus, little clay figures that have been found in Asia and South America. But these are dogus who live in the snow, so I call them “snowgus.” Each snowgu was modelled to look simplistic, like the Pokémon in My Pokémon Ranch. I don’t know, I think they’re cute.

HELLO, WORLD 2: HELLO WORLDER

In a truly self-absorbed fashion, I have decided to try posting more pictures.  If I can get into a good enough groove, then maybe I can show off at least once a week, because everyone needs a strict showing-off schedule. I’m also trying to determine which showing-off format is the least annoying to the audience, as that would defeat the purpose of the showing off.

Here’s a picture I did a few years back. It was for a contest for the PokeWiFi community on Livejournal. It didn’t win, but it was great practice and a lot of fun to make, so it’s all good.

Shaymin available to North American Pokémon Platinum players

Starting on the 28th of September a new Mysterious Gift appeared for Platinum players. Oak’s Letter triggers the ability to find and capture Shaymin on Route 224.

The procedure is fairly simple. First, if you haven’t done it already for the Secret Key, you must unlock the Mystery Gift option by following the steps on the included leaflet in your game case, and talk to the Jubilife TV Producer. When you select that option from the title menu you will receive Oak’s Letter over your WiFi connection. Once picked up from the postman at the nearest Pokémart you will want to head to the exit of Victory Road. Make sure to have the Surf, Waterfall, Rock Climb, Strength and Defog HM moves in your party, then find the path to the right of the last area of Victory Road which should have been opened after defeating the Elite Four.

Move through the caves, then to the edge of Route 224 to find Oak in need of your help. You’ll find yourself face to face with a level 30 Shaymin ready to be caught. What about the Sky Forme though? Well make your way to Floaroma Town with your new Shaymin in your party and a woman on the main path will hand over the Gracidea Flower. Use this key item to transform to Sky Forme, though it will change back at night, if frozen, deposited in a PC or traded.

Note that there is a lot of time, but this Mysterious Gift will no longer be available after November 8th. Read all the details on the page set up for Shaymin at the official Pokémon Platinum Version website.

[Edit: European players also have access to this gift, and likely other regions.]
