Team Bondi Facing Closure

Ever since L.A Noire was released, Team Bondi, the guys and gals who helped Rockstar make the game, have been hit with scandals, shocking allegations of working conditions and how staff are treated, but now it seems they will be closing their doors forever.

All the paper work for getting the money owed to the creditors have been handed into the Australian Securities and Investments Comission, including a liquidator. The International Game Developers Association were keeping tabs on the team following credit omissions and other mistreatment of staff, but with them looking to not see Hallowe’en, let alone Christmas, any further punishment and investigation may be dropped.

This will not effect the PC port of L.A. Noire, which is being done by Rockstar Leeds, with the copyright of the game laying with Rockstar themselves, so a sequel is also still possible.

*Rumor* Rockstar San Diego Hard At Work On New IP

The studio that brought us both Red Dead Redemption and Midnight Club: Los Angeles is supposedly working on an entirely new game. Red Dead Redemption was very well recieved and like any great open world game full of options and things to do. It is the game that finally perfected an implementation of the western setting. They have made some great and fully featured game in the past few years and have proven themselves to be equal with their UK counterparts.

Rockstar Receives Substantial Damages from Daily Star Media

Gamers everywhere can finally rejoice with a well earned victory!  Well, a small victory, but a victory all the same.

A newspaper known as the Daily Star published an entirely ficticious story about Rockstar developing a new Grand Theft Auto game revolving around a character named Rothbury [a nonfictional gunman] and claimed it would be based on the Northumberland shootings in Northern England.  Of course, all of this was completely fictional, and Rockstar had never made such plans before.

The icing on the cake is when Daily Star went to still grieving family members and interviewed them about the new title, brining up tides of emotional scares and despair all for the sake of publicity and increased subscriptions.

Naturally, Daily Star never contacted Rockstar in the least to confirm/deny any of these allegations.

As such, Rockstar sued and consequently won its lawsuit against Daily Star, received damages and forced them to pay Rockstar’s substantial legal fees.  While an amount was undisclosed, you KNOW it had to be big.

I cannot believe the NERVE of these people to make something completely up, involve sad and grieving families AND be a professional news center.  At least the games industry finally struck a victory over the slanderous media!
