What a great event! We enjoyed spending the week gaming with all of you and raising over $40,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. During the marathon we announced 3 upcoming events; “Trick or Treat Marathon” Oct 14-17 2016, “Pokemon Sun and Moon” Dec 16-19 2016, and “Zelda Breath of The Wild” Spring 2017. We appreciate everyone who donated, modded, watched and took part in the event. The viewers kept us energized and engaged. We loved chatting with you and sharing our efforts in raising money for a great cause. It’s a complete team effort and we needed everyone to make this event as successful as it was. We look forward to seeing you all in October!! Listed below are the prize winners from the Zelda marathon. We will be emailing you in the next week to get shipping information if you won a prize. The Final Fantasy Marathon is in the books! Everybody involved did a great job, a complete team effort. We ended raising $32, 753 for ACT Today. That ranks as our 4th most successful marathon. We have now surpassed $425,000 total raised for various charities/causes. All prize winners from the FF marathon should be notified soon.
We’ve started transitioning into planning for our upcoming Halloween (Oct 18-21) and Zelda (Dec 13-16) marathons. Soon you should see changes to the front page banner and forums as well as their backgrounds. If you need you need access to the marathon planning forum, please either pm/tweet/email me. You will also see a batch of new community/forum events and contests soon.
We’ve got some big ideas for each of our next couple of marathons. I’ll be posting about them over the next several weeks on the blog. Thank you guys for supporting us over the 5+ years. We’ve got a lot planned for the future.
I slept very well last night after 4 days of Mega Man. This event sure did have a flair for the dramatic. You guys rallied from what seemed like an insurmountable deficit to hit our goal. We experienced some internet issues less than 24 hours into the event. At one point we were disconnecting every couple of minutes. By Saturday night things had resolved themselves and the internet was back in working condition. Thank you guys so much for sticking with us through those technical difficulties. Approximately $11,800 was raised for Rocking H Ranch. I had so much fun during this event and it was truly a team effort. I enjoyed meeting AlanEdgeHead and Metalman from the forums for the the first time. They were really cool guys to hang out with and huge assets to the team. I look forward to doing more marathons with them in the future. Also big props to our first time player Trombonus. He played during the wee hours of the morning and destroyed his games. We couldn’t have done it without you all.
Our head web guru Local did an incredible job creating his own substitute for chipin which we used during the marathon. He will be making it available for anyone else who would like to run their own gaming events. We will have updates on this on a later date.
Up next, our WEEK LONG FINAL FANTASY MARATHON!!! This is our biggest event of the year and it all begins MONDAY June 24 @6pm central and will end on Monday July 1st.
If you won a prize, emails will go out within the next week asking for shipping addresses.
Thanks again for another memorable marathon!
Whewwwww, what a week! We broke all of our donation records and goals. This was our most ambitious marathon and with everyone’s help we put on our best show yet. We raised over $59,000 for ACT Today and beat our gaming goal of catching all 646 available Pokemon.
The support we received from everyone was incredible. I can’t thank enough all of our sponsors/supporters along with all of the help we get within from our marketing team, ops and mods.
The marathon was extremely draining in terms of man power at the barn. We had to exhaust all of our resources. Over 20 people volunteered throughout the week to either play, commentate or help out with the back end of the marathon. Thank you guys for sticking through those long nights and tough shifts. You are all the best people and my best friends.
I’ll be putting together some sort of retrospective video within the next 2 weeks so be sure to be subscribes to our youtube! http://www.youtube.com/thespeedgamers
Up next, the Mario Marathon! We will be posting info about the Mario marathon over the following weeks and months to get you pumped and informed for our next event. Our tentative start date is December 14th 2012.
What a great event! Best ever? Quite possibly. I cannot thank the community enough for the job they did during our marathon. Promotion, activity, energy, you guys had it all. We are just shy of raising $20,000 for Rocking H Ranch. Right now we stand at $19,700 but you are still able to donate. We thought our goal of $15,000 would be hard to achieve, but just a couple of hours in we knew it was was going to happen. We could not have done it without our great promoters and all of our friends from around the internet who showed up help push us to our goal. A special thanks to Fangamer for their continued support and amazing prize donations. Also, thank you to the indie gaming devs and teams that supplied us with their games for giveaways; Team Meat, Humble Indie Bundle, Super Giant Games and Indie Royale.
I’m going to start work on a retrospective video like I typically do after our big events. Look for it to be posted within the week on our youtube channel. Be sure to sign up to forums if you have not already.
Stay tuned for more news about our upcoming events. We look forward this summer (June) to putting on a great event for ACT Today and also to catching all the Pokemon.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the Mario Marathon was by far my favorite marathon. It’s bitter sweet that it’s all over. Bitter to say good bye to all of my friends and the fun we had, sweet that we raised nearly $60,000 for ACT Today and I can now rest. There’s no way we could have done this without all of you; Donators, promoters and viewers.
A humongous thanks goes out to Fangamer.net. What they did for our marathon and ACT Today was phenomenal. Nearly $10,000 was raised through their T-shirts, AMAZING.
I’m currently working on a commemorative video that will be posted late tomorrow and Tuesday at the lastest.
Wew! What a marathon. Thank you everybody who watched and participated, this truly was a great marathon. We raised $11,465 for Halton Autistic Family Support group (HAFS) during the marathon.
So many great moments and memes spawned from this fun filled weekend and also the introduction of Psychotaku Tyler T and Heath. They were all great additions to the team and I look forward to having them from here on out. Also a great job to the new op team, you guys performed great.
Our next marathon is the Mother/Earthbound Marathon, May 7-9 for Susan G Komen, we cannot wait!
Be sure to watch the vlog that will be released later tonight for a video Wrap.
What a picture perfect marathon. We had a photo finish in catching our last and 493rd Pokemon. I can’t tell you how much excitement was flowing through the room. We are all proud to have raised over $18,000 for Ally’s House. We are about $1,000 short of $125,000 total raised for various causes.

Aiyoh, I’m exhausted. I thought this marathon would be a breeze compared to our week long Final Fantasy marathon but I’m still beat.
What a great summer we had with you guys. I’m proud of our community that continues to grow and do amazing things for society. I guess us gamers aren’t so bad after all, huh?
Our Halloween marathon starts Octobers 30th and lasts 48 hours. We will be playing the Resident Evil series and currently you can vote on the cause we are gaming for in the forums.
Thanks everyone for another enjoyable marathon. The viewers were steady throughout and our store grand opening went great. I think the rest of the marathons you see from us will always either be for some sort of charity or cause. It seems to add quiet a bit more enjoyment for both the viewers and us.
Now we look ahead to the much talked about Final Fantasy marathon which starts July 17 and will last a week. More details will be posted soon.
If you won a prize expect an email shortly and I will ship ASAP.
